Some of the ideas she had weren't great and catered too much to some of the more obnoxious NIMBYs in the city (which then empowered other annoying community associations to get in the way of progress). But when it comes to the city's budget, she fought against sprawl, inefficient development, the arena deal, the Olympics, and other big budget items that actually have the major effect on operating and capital spending. Some councilors are penny-wise, pound-foolish. Druh was the opposite.

This is all pretty typical for an inner city councilor. There's a pretty strong consensus this is the way city/urban planning is going - higher density, less traffic, walking friendly. For a ped bridge it was *extremely* expensive. Like more than 5X the cost of a "normal" ped bridge. You can build a fancy, long ped bridge for about $10MM.

The anti-PC/UCP vote has been pretty steady over the years in that riding. It isn't a riding that has "Druh support" like Calgary-Mountainview (or even Calgary-Varsity) that kept getting her elected municipally. I don't think name recognition is helping her in that part of town.

If Druh wins Calgary-Bow then the NDP has walked away with the election, because if she can win that riding, every marginal suburban riding in Calgary will go NDP.
