What's the difference between a golf gti with a red I and one without??
If only cosmetic differences what are they?? My mate has a red I on his and mine doesnt yet the cars look the same to me.

Please post in the discussion part of the forum, not in the section for members to post the pictures of their cars.

And to answer your question, there isn't, purly cosmetic.

I think it's most likely your friend changed the badging on his GTI, that would be my guess.

GTI is GTI. You either get the VR6 or the 1.8T. The badging isnt related to this to the best of my knowledge.

the red I GTI is a 1.8 turbo and the GTI with out a red I is a standard 2.0 so a big differance !!!!!!!!!!

Wrong...

The GTi has only 2 engines: VR6 and the 1.8T.

The red I is only cosmetic.

The 99.5/2000 GTI's did have 2.0's in them. Here they didn't badge them any different, other than not putting 1.8t or VR6 on them.....In europe though, the colours on the badge does have meaning. On the TDI's, you can have 3 seperate power levels, and depending on how many of the letters are red (starting with the I, then DI, and TDI), denotes the engine option you chose....
