So ive had a sore wrist for as long as I can remember. And I recently had this looked at the physio and we noticed that on the sore wrist is a lump and on the normal wrist theres no lump. After looking up lumps on wrist on youtube I found that I might have this thing called a ganglion cyst. Has anyone had that before?

Have you considered asking… your doctor.

Radical idea I know.

My doctor is useless. But I do plan to make an appointment.

Apparently the historical fix was hitting it with a bible.

What would your wife do?

just squish it really hard with your thumb. It'll come back, but the squishy feeling is satisfying.

Bible, not hammer. These used to literally be called "Bible bumps".

Your physician will tell you to ignore it as long as you can because the removal surgery carries a risk of permanent nerve damage.

My friend had one and his employer, WorleyParsons, refused to grant him a sick day to go get an MRI. He had booked it months earlier, because MRI so he got to miss a day of work without pay "because he wasn't sick". The MRI helps to rule out cancer, but he wasn't sick.

I used to get these on my left wrist when I was actively boxing.

Something you are doing is causing a repetition injury. Once you figure that out the cyst will go away on its own.

I had a big one a couple months back and forgot I even had it then one day.. gone.

I'd recommend making a new thread with a poll to determine how best to move forward.

One of the things I did to help was wear a wrist brace to limit movement.

She is 8. But ive had this wrist pain since I moved here around 2007. I think I sprained my wrist playing aussie rules in calgary, I dont remember it getting better after that but in the last year it seems worse. I usually wear a wrist splint when we are doing yoga and pilates and all those other work outs.

I was kidding. Something about married couples fucking less often especially after kids are all done, which in turn means more repetitive wrist exercises.

It's there a New Zealand version of a Dutch Rudder that you've been getting a little too often?

Ah yes, wrist cysts. Take care.

Seriously though, I know you're not from AB, but here you can call 811 and a nurse will tell you if it should be looked at more.

A cyst is just a sac of stuff. In the case of your kind, I think it's generally translucent off-white grossness. As long as it isn't near any major vessels (obviously) you can just jam a needle in there and drain it out if you're a barbarian like myself. Most of the time it will come back though unless the actual sac is removed so it's really just a delay to the inevitable. But it IS satisfying.

Mine isnt that big yet but it does cause pain when i do pushups or any exercise in that position. Ive put my wrist brace on and i have some voltaren to put on it.

Had a cyst on my collar bone area. Had it removed.
Doc sent me to specialist to see it. Ultrasound done then a surgery date booked. Walked into Rockyview, into room. Took off shirt. They froze it, medical student cut it out and sewed it up. Done.
No big deal.
