View Full Version : Wheels/tires poking a bit past fender on a car

I know there's tons of talk online before about tires sticking out past the fender on a truck but what are the laws for cars?

I just realized that on both our vehicles, which I have spacers on for one, and different rims for the other...that the rears stick out past the fenders slightly (top of tire sticks out a 1/2 inch on the GLA, and 1/4 inch on my 135i)....am I going to fail an Out of Province inspection because of this?

1.2 inches of poke on a GLA250?

Gross. Fix that just for your self respect.

On an out of province inspection you will probably have an issue yes... Spacers will be an auto fail. Aftermarket wheels that poke out probably.

If you’re moving to BC, an AB OOP is rather irrelevant. BC out of province inspection requirements are pretty easy to find online.

They take OPPs done in AB within the last 90 days...and I couldn't find them at all.

NM, found one here:

Thanks, that is so dumb though....good thing I didn't sell the OEM wheels yet.

I have a feeling there is more to these vehicles than wheel spacers which maybe a concern and that is all you think is going to be a problem.

What do you mean? That's literally the only thing I have done to these vehicles...everything else is stock.

Personally I think wheel poke should be punished with the death penalty. So yea.

Why don’t you just remove the spacers for the inspection?

Why don’t you just remove the spacers for the inspection?

I will for the BMW....but for the GLA, I bought these wheels for it because they came with brand new tires, the set that came with it, the tires are almost done.

If it really looks terrible though, I will remove them. It's too bad, I think it look so much better esp. from the back.

Does the inspection have to be done to AB or BC standards? Here is the ICBC page and the BC inspection form:

Didn’t you JUST buy this car?

How have you already done shit to it that you are concerned about failing an inspection.

The GLA doesn't have spacers, I just switched out the wheels/tires for another set.

Respected is definitely the wrong word.

Even I’ll admit, my opinion on how it looks is irrelevant. My main criticism is on your poor judgment around modifying a vehicle prior to an inspection.

Haha...my "modifications", luckily, can be easily reversed, I guess the entire point of this thread is really how lazy can I be in order to pass in the inspection?

Inspection is on May 8 so I'm sure I'll be bored some time before then and flip everything back.

No it doesn't look bad at all! If anything that is more what I would call a flush fit.

I for one would recommend some fender flares.

It would really make that GLA pop!

I knew it lol...the more I look at it (and even googled different types of fitment), the more I think it fits the def of a "flush fitment", at least the fronts, the backs are just sticking out a bit, and by a bit, I mean, you can't even tell from most angles.

^^ Please tell me you still own this? No, sadly.... In a fit of annoyance I sold it to a guy, he kept it for quite a long time and sold it too. Then the guy who bought it barely owned it before it got stolen, rat bagged on, driven out into the bush, shotgunned up to shit and lit on fire. I was heart broken even though I didn’t own it anymore! Haha!

I did sell the Schmidt’s separately though and funny enough, after going through a couple owner across two provinces, my rims ended up on an MK1 Scirocco my buddy bought so he now has my old rims back here in Calgary!

Thanks, just took a quick look at "wheel" and "tire", only thing it talks about is non-OEM spacers?

What year is the GLA? If its 2018 or newer I thought you didn't need a OOP between AB/BC.

So that's every C63 and C43 in Calgary then :burnout:
