I've been after a Hellcat since they came out in 2015 but I refused to pay over sticker so instead I bought a regular SRT 392 with a paltry 485 HP. This spring I've been eyeing a factory order on a new Hellcat Redeye but Covid had other plans. Just like 2015, unless you're willing to pay well over sticker (and I'm not) there were none to be had, MAYBE by next summer I was told by several shops. Well low & behold a mint 2017 with 4250 KM (not a typo) shows up online spec'd just like I had my 2021 laid out plus the original owner spent a bunch of money on things like 3M, extended warranty, etc.. Like my last few vehicles, a short test drive and about 5 minutes worth of negotiating and I signed my name. None of this 4-square bullshit and the man in the business office was 5 star, would work with again (no shock to old-time Beyonders). I have to admit I'm a little surprised at how different this unit is compared to the outgoing 392 but I guess a supercharger and another 222 HP will do that.

Truthfully this is more or less a rental, once the world smartens up and a guy can factory order something again without waiting 18 months I'll likely pick up a Redeye. This isn't a terrible way to spend some time though.

GTS is still massively down on power and wouldn't be much lighter (guessing) so I think the Hellcat will likely have an upper hand.

Given the right circumstances...in Mexico of course...I would not be opposed to such an event. The biggest issues aside from weight is the ability to hook up, the factory 275s might as well be bicycle tires. Depending on how the first set of rubber goes I may be in the market for wider wheels & tires.

Or I may just have to wait until I can get my hands on the widebody redeye. Either way, Maxt doesn't get to bring anything green to this event either.

AWD cars will always have that upper hand over RWD vehicles so not surprised to see the M5 take that GT. The hardest part with RWD is getting the start right...every time I try to 'push' my GTS, all I get are the rear wheels spinning for 5 minutes lol.

Saw this site on my drive back from Canmore this weekend: https://rockymotorsports.com. Will be fun when it's up and running, though I might try to go to the Castrol raceway by Edmonton Airport this summer just to try and get some practice in.

EDIT: Just read their FAQ's apparently no drag strip...bummer.

Yea an extra 100HP is just going to exacerbate the AMG’s already slippy tendencies. Maybe it catches up, in doubtful though as that was quite a gap the M5 pulled.

The hardest part with RWD is getting the start right...every time I try to 'push' my GTS, all I get are the rear wheels spinning for 5 minutes lol.

Coincidentally, I have a guy in Florida who is working on shipping quotes to determine how feasible it is to bring it down, and I received an offer from another guy in Bonnyville AB to buy it as well. Both offers are for more then I paid back in 2014 when it only had 21,000km on it, currently it has ~65,000km. I turned down the Bonnyville offer but I would sell it to the guy in Florida, at the price point being discussed.

It's worth noting that I haven't advertised it for sale but rather, I simply responded to guys on Facebook (CTS-V page) who post up looking for anyone willing to sell their wagon. Everything is for sale for the right price, but quite honestly, I really like my wagon and I would miss it a lot if I did let it go. It is fun to think about what I would replace it with though........... CT5-V Blackwing? 911 Turbo S? Golf R? Miata? Honda Ridgeline? :dunno:
