Beyond has an official Cardano / ADA pool now!

POOL ID: YYC

Cardano / Ada is 3rd gen crypto currency which uses a "proof of stake" system for security instead of raw power, race to the bottom hashing.

Its more efficient and fair distribution of rewards should lead to a long and healthy crypto currency.

What that's means for the investors or "stakers", stakers will receive a proportional share of this pools rewards. The chances of mining a block in a given epoch (5 days) are pool stake over 1,000,000. So a healthy Pool of 1MIL will see 1 block per epoch and returns of 4.5%/yearly.

This pool is taking 340 ADA per block for operating costs. PLUS 1.5% for a Calgary based charity per epoch plus another 0.5% goes to Beyond.ca since I know none of you cheap bastards keep this place alive.

Hey Guys looks like I am getting slower uptake on this than originally planned.
I want to show that I am serious about this endeavor and would like to put out a guaranteed return on investment of 5% annualized.
Ending Epoch 310 (roughly 6 months from today) whatever ADA you Actively stake in the pool I will personally guarantee a 5% annualized at the end of the 6 months from the pool.
This is not replacing rewards but a subsidy to encourage delegations.
adapools.org provides a public list of delegators and their registration dates so the math is pretty easy and public.

Like starting any small business you gotta put some money on the line and this is my promise. Once delegators pass 100k we should see enough rewards to payout the 5% otherwise

Getting more stake is the whole name of the game. Its why I'm running this 5% promotion.
Best way to help would be trying to convince other people to delegation. Through social media or other methods.

ADA is a crypto that's POS (Proof of stake) vs POW (Proof of work AKA mining).
You essentially "stake" your wallet, by putting it up as collateral to confirm transactions in the ecosystem. You pick a random pool to stake with, as they run all the hardware, and the pool earns coins off that. They distribute it out to anyone that's staked. The more you stake, the more you make. Typically a pool this small wouldn't make anything (there's not enough money in it yet), so as compensation, he's paying 5% out of pocket to try and get the pool going. Usually the more people that stake, the higher up the pool is, which makes more people stake in it.

TL;DR - We're earning interest on our crypto, specifically Cardano (ADA).

3. Stake the wallet to YYC pool

Your coins are not locked to the pool, you can spend and sell them as you please without any interaction with the pool.
Think of Staking like voting ballets. You are voting that our pool verify transactions and we get rewarded with new coins and transaction fees.

I am paying 5% yearly compounded per Epoch. Epochs are every 5 days.
It also works out to 0.07% per Epoch if you prefer.
Ill be paying out the entire rewards at the end of Epoch #310 and making a decision what to do then with the pool.

Smurf did a good job explaining what I'm doing above. I am personally paying 0.07% per epoch (every 5 days) to get more people interested in this pool.
Once we have enough coins in the pool, the ADA network will start rewarding us with new shiny coins.
As of yet no new coins have been awarded because we are too small.

For you Spikers, just put in what you feel comfortable investing in crypto. Consider these rewards as a small bonus and let them grow.
If you want to pull out and sell let me know.

spikerS, like I said, this is essentially interest. You're getting paid interest on your crypto savings account. Let it sit there and earn more cypto for you. If the YYC pool doesn't attract enough coins to start earning it's own coins at the end of this, you can delegate to another more popular pool, and you just get automagically paid out more and more ADA coins, letting it compound. The more you put in, the more you earn, but at the end of the day, it's still a flat interest %, just in this case, jacky is paying us out of pocket until the pool gets popular enough.

If we don't attract enough attention, you'll want to re-delegate to a more popular pool (there's tons out there.) Then you'll get guaranteed rewards from the blockchain (rather than Jackie's savings account).

You can't stake with an exchange like Binance. I use Daedalus on Windows. Works pretty well.

Technically, you are paying a 2 ADA deposit when you stake and a transaction fee to pay that deposit (~0.17ADA). If you wanted to un-stake you can technically get that 2 ADA back BUT as of yet Its not easy and requires creating a manual transaction. none of the major wallets support de-registering wallets yet...

If you change pools, the only cost is a blockchain transaction ~0.17ADA.

Yeah. I wanted to do that, but aside from a ton of 1-star reviews on Google apps (for chrome), it never let me enter the 12-key phrase, so I'm not sure what changed.
Oh. Also, I have a 24 word recovery key, not 12, so Yoroi isn't happy with that either.

Taemo. Ya it is a concern for sure. I am part of the ARMada Alliance. A group of pool operators who run these nodes on Pi. As of yet the RPi is very much able to handle the "Alonzo" update but as smart contracts get used more and more the nodes will get more stressed.

If the memory requirements get too intense we will need to re-evaluate. I might be inclined to buy some older server hardware and throw a butt load of ram in it.

Also hell ya! lets hope we can top $4 this next week.

News:
- Epoch 290 is the first for Smart contracts. This doesn't mean a whole lot for the pool right now but as applications are built we may need to upgrade hardware. I will keep a close eye on how this goes
- I am also considering reducing the operator fee from 2% to 0% in an effort to get more random signups. This seems to be inline with what most new pools are doing these days. Ultimate result means slight more return for you the delegators. Will make a decision when i have more time later.
