S2000 were awesome when you could buy an ok one for $12k. I can’t bring myself to buy another with prices then last 3 or so years.

I loved my S2k. The only reason I don't still have it is because it's a great third car, and I don't yet have garage space for that many. I definitely get why some people wouldn't like them though. Loud, slow unless it's being driven at 11/10ths, overpriced.

It checked a few boxes for me, the primary ones probably being 'as close to a motorcycle without being a motorcycle', and nostalgia. I don't think I can name another car that so closely aligns with the intersection of those two things (for me).

That's a good one actually, but disoblige nailed it. Not only is it overpriced (even more than S2k), maint would be a killer. I value Honda reliability, even more so on a car that would be rarely driven.

I think there was a guy who tracked a lot in Edmonton who did just that, iIRC. I think he went by Zhao on the now defunct 780tUnErZ site. He was supposedly a very competent track driver but I don't know if he truly raced. I'm not sure if I ended up meeting him without realizing while I lived there.

I think Rob in the video did sum it up. If mine didn't climb in value so much, and also I had room for it I probably would have kept my S2000 long term.

I do enjoy his car reviews. But he too much of a Hyundai fanboy. He needs to incorporate ownership and factor target audience of who the vehicles were designed for into his reviews. It would be a lot more informative.

I really like their channel, one of the reasons we became interested in the LC we bought was their very deep dives on that car and its various changes through just a few model years. Great guys IMO.
