Second floor bathroom (the kid's bathroom) needs to be renovated. Anybody have any good experiences with contractors lately?

Add a bidet.

That's all I've got.

(I don't own a bidet, too poor, not Aspenite)

Is it full renovation, or just the shower/bathtub?

If latter, Bath Fitter and call it a day

Omer's my tile guy and he is great: http://www.tilebystyle.com/

He can likely put you in touch with a cabinetry or glass person if you require one.

most recent bathroom tile job he did for us. Beauty is of course in the eye of the beholder, but from a technical perspective, his work is extremely high quality and he always puts in the prep time to ensure a good result. He insisted on hammering up my foundation just to centre the shower drain for this job. Heart of gold and his team works freakin' hard.

Enrich!

Dave was good. I think he just needed some time off social media.
Helped me a few times with diy tile advice.

C_Dave45 is the famed "Dave"; I've never met him personally but he always seemed to know his stuff.

Honestly, tiling seems like a tough trade; beyond the obvious physical challenges of hauling heavy material around, SO much of the end product's quality is dictated by the prep work.

I was talking to Dave the tile guy. He did A790's bathroom recently. Here's the work link. No facebook account and link still works.
That shower is really nice I will admit, pretty jealous!!

If suntan is wanting a basic Beyond baller bathroom done, there's this one Dave did too.

Guess you need to book him over to determine a budget and expectations.

*disclosure, no kick backs for this, I've just seen his work over the years and it's top notch. That one outdoor tile patio he did was pretty incredible a few years ago.

Dave does good work. Tile design and planning is a fascinating art on top of the trade of tile setting.

Gold trim. I knew there was something wrong with A790.

Things I've learned so far:

- Contractors love Home Depot.
- No one wants to remove K3.

Tile Dave and the other guy that came today are the only people so far that 100% want to remove K3. Everybody else: "Shave the door!".

If suntan did his own reno, it would follow this chart.

Where's posting on beyond about the work fit? I'd be 36% of that slice.

Yes. That bathroom is very monochrome. It's a joke about that. But you know what they say about having to explain a joke....

Was a picture before it was done with all the towel racks/wife’s decorating. I’m happy/she’s happy so guess that’s all that matters. Was just putting a referral out there for OP ask.

They are nice, we waffled back and fourth on them but happy we went with them. Used to be a big soaker tub in bathroom that we got rid of as we never used.

Apparently girls don't like them. Something about not getting hair wet every time they shower?!

What’s the rationale for having 2 showers inside the shower?

Wouldn’t a bigger rainfall head installed in the ceiling make more sense at that point?

If your "contractor" goes to Home Depot for his materials......lol

Anyone who doesn't recommend and want to remove K3 is lazy/a hack, don't hire them.

IIRC the price goes up exponentially with size. I know someone who has one ~ the size of a normal trash can lid and it was ~$1500

If you aren't always using both and nearly drowning, what's the point?

Seriously though, both is the way to go. Rain heads suck for washing/rinsing because they have low pressure.

Separate plumbing and valves to each is winning.

I've sued my rain shower head less than 10 times.

I use my regular shower head and three body sprayers. That's by far the best solution. Just make sure they're aimable. Getting blasted in the twig and berries by a body sprayer isn't fun. Most of the time.

That must be one negligent rain shower head.

The only issue that I've experienced with having a rain shower head in this kind of a situation (in your kids bathroom) is that its so close to the wall. You end up having a shower standing close up to the front wall. Annoying.

Only time I use mine is after cutting the lawn on a super freaking hot day. Set water temp to cold and just stand in it. That is super refreshing.

Our kids bathroom is enough pressure with setup you can stand in middle.

As for comments on two shower heads we like it. Allows you to shower together if you can and two different water temperatures , we plumbed separately.

As far as rain shower it’s got more than enough to wash soap off imo

I'm thinking of the multiple body jets, typical and then a wand.. damn near a carwash at that point. Also a steam shower with a bench for hangover management

Yah steam shower would be nice. I tossed around that idea but it would have added significant cost
