I'll look it up, but it's 40% more than it was about 5 years ago.

I mean, if I were an insurance company, I would charge you a fuck ton to live in Airdrie, too.

You know what, I actually can't even figure mine out. I have home and auto bundled, and I get annual billing statements, and I've had changes to both home and auto since then, and they don't send a new cost breakdown each time. So yeah, honestly no idea. $456/mo for house and two vehicles, which is lower than it used to be when I had an RV on the policy as well. :dunno::goflames:

1797 annual. Inner city 1950’s bungalow.

$1367 annual, 50's bungalow.

None of these answers are useful without context though.
$375g house rebuild
$37.5g garage rebuild (which I should probably increase considering the size)
$300g personal property
$115g loss of dwelling use
All with $1g deductible
Plus water/hail/wind coverage which is half the premium alone.

Heres my spreadsheet when I got offended when my policy nearly doubled for not having a backflow preventer. I suggest everyone do the same when shopping for insurance, its such a crooked industry.

1970s bungalow w/ double attached garrage, 350sq/ft serviced outbuilding, 2 fireplaces, no backflow valve, over 10yo HWT. Recently replaced roof.

The spreadsheet is 4 years old now but The Personal has not changed rates in that time. I also qualified for one of their group rates because of my employer which I was told was 15% but Masked bandit has said numerous times that group rates aren't really a thing. *hes also the one that made the policy with pembridge.

102975

I only bothered to get quoted for home and auto from the top 3 prospects but The personal (desjadnes) was far ahead and been great.

W/ TD Meloche:
Personal residence in Cgy: $1070/yr. (1980s bungalow: ~$400K w/ det. garage)
Second home in Edm: $1050/yr (1950s bungalow: ~$400K w/ det gar.)
(I also have 2 cars insured with them)

I just got quotes from another company called "The Personal" that is partnered with my professional society and their rates were significantly lower, with a potential savings of nearly $200-300 per property for the same coverage. I don't know much more about them however...
*edit 1: I just saw the comment from the poster above. I would seriously look at switching over but they had some issues with insuring the second home due to it being a rental prop. :/
*edit 2 : added more info on props

I should also say that I did not get quotes from intact or aviva as both have been an absolute nightmare to deal with previously and no amount of savings would have me go back to them.

One of the biggest differences I've seen in policies from different companies is the coverage for water/flood damage. Ive seen coverage ranging from the entire home rebuild cost down to as low as just $30K, usually with a higher deductible just for this type of claim.

We pay $119/mo for our house in west Edmonton with The Personal. Just as a comparison.

Ha. So I did an online quote for TD. Its 96 a month. Yes, $100 a month less (1100 a year) then what I'm paying. Call them, and man the webs these guys try to spin about 'oh rate groups have changed, we're so sorry but happy to provide you better insurance for $1300 a year' [vs 2250]. Refused to rebate even though it re-renewed in September.

So ya, get a new quote and then go back to them.

Sounds like you got "rate-optimized".

You can back-date removing a vehicle if you have a bill of sale with the date on it.

These seem really low to me - maybe I need to call TD.

I'm at ~$2700/yr with TD Meloche. ~3000sq ft in the burbs.

Get a quote on their online site and compare it across to what you're getting. Thats what I did, and they couldnt defend being $1000 over what their system was quoting..

When I moved from Aviva to TD, I went from 2400/year to 950/year.
I had them requote like 3 times to make sure nothing was missed, I couldn't believe it.
2000sqft, Hawkwood. Did the roof this summer, and it dropped $200 off our annual premium (which had gone up to $1200, and then back down to $1000).

$1000/year for home, and it's paired with auto (3 cars), which is a separate cost.

TD Meloche Monex from 2017 to 2021 with zero claims:
$862 > $879 > $984 > $1101 > $1227

I got pissy with TD at $1227 so I called The Personal and they can personally drink my ass water because they wanted about $2,000 !

Called - online system was within $80. Nothing they could do to drop the rates. hmm.
