HP elite thunderbolt 3 dock help

Bought on kijiji
hooked everything up
Seems to only be passing power through; tested on two different laptops and verified they both dock on a different dock

Any ideas?

yeah that will not work, HP only thunderbolt docking station, sucks too as we had lots of users having display issues when running 2 monitors

from what I recall I had to launch HP Thunderbolt software and allow it to trust the dock.

It only works with certain HP laptops:

It may not automatically be loading drivers. Go to HP support and make sure you have the driver support.

Alternatively I have a dell D6000 dock that works with everything with triple monitor support for cheaper and it's been flawless for me.
