On July 15, I refill 91 octane unleaded at 1.89xx. At the time, regular unleaded is at 1.79

On July 19, I refill again, and regular unleaded is at 1.71 but unleaded is at 2.009

I don't understand? shouldn't they all go down in price?

You guys look at the price of gas?

Is 91 even premium anymore? Don’t be poor and use 93+

I used to scoff at Costco fuel buyers until this premium price disconnect happens. Now I sit in line with all of them for 15 mins to save 30 cents a liter compared to an esso or shell. Don't tell killramos im sullying our M cars good names in that lineup

Kinda related, I was fueling up the other day and I was wondering when I was starting to drive, diesel used to be about half the price of regular and these days it's more.

What happened between then and now that caused this shift in price?

Same for me. I'm a costco buyer now after being shocked at the price difference on premium.

Diesel vs Gasoline is because the supply/demand for each product have different things which effect them. I expect them to move up and down at different times.

ULSD happened. Production costs increased vs that dirty but oh-so-full-of-lubricity diesel we used in the '90s.

I remember that too.
The diesel engine owners used to drive around with a half chub knowing that they get cheap fuel.

Only way to get that feeling now is join the Beyond collective.

There is no single common standard for differential between regular and premium. Each retailer charges their own price. Costco has the lowest differential of 10c, and Shell’s is the highest (with other majors not too far off)

It's all that nitrogen enriched goodness that Shell puts in premium. If it's good for your tires, it must be even better for your engine!

I used to think nismodrifter had a full chub talking about his TDI for that same reason haha

Shell is now offering 93 octane in Alberta. I know the station at Beacon Hill has it.

oh definitely man. 1400km/tank on highway. Fill once a month.
My record trip was Calgary to Kelowna, and back. 1 tank. That was with a tune box, vehicle full of luggage, 19" wheels, and 4 passengers.

Thats full pant tearing chub type of economy.

zipdoa - sell me your wagon please. I am not whole without an MKIV ALH TDI in my life.

I’ve got a 7 seat Peugeot 5008 GT with a 1.5L Turbodiesel and a 6 speed here in the UK and I averaged 65.6MPG UK over a 335 mile journey today. Not bad for spending a lot of time close to 80mph. Should be good for 800+miles per tank (60L tank I think).

Saw it at the Crowfoot Shell the other day too. Just FYI, the 93 contains ethanol for those that care.

The french don't do anything well, except small efficient diesels

I had a Nissan Juke with that same engine for a rental a while back, 56mpg (uk) in town

About time.

This line says a lot:

On Friday, the average price of regular gasoline in Toronto was around $1.689 per litre, according to GasBuddy

Toronto’s rack price is 7c higher than ours, and we have 6c less provincial tax.

So we should be at 1.55/L to match TO at an average profit at the stations. We’re paying so much, why?

Always is slightly cheaper (used to be about 5¢ less) in Edmonton, but don't tell Calgary. They won't be able to figure out why Edmonton needs fuel on account a them all living in igloos around some mall and whatnot.
It's like still -7°C in Edmonton, right?
