I had to beat ExtraSlow to the MEGA THREAD on this one. Mods, please feel free to put this in the Calgary Flames sub-forum if you'd like.

I went to the preseason game against Vancouver to check out the new talent and I was pretty impressed with Huberdeau. Weegar left a little to be desired but it was a preseason game so I didn't put much stock in it. Watching last night's game versus Edmonton he really picked it up and was playing great. I wonder if #91 is going to be as big of a pest as the #19 we just lost.

After that crazy offseason I am excited to get back into hockey here and see how this new Flames team shapes up.

Yea, Stone literally came in from the rafters to play whenever someone was hurt and played well. Even in playoffs on a first line D pairing. Flames really taking advantage of the "I want to be here" discount.

Blasty was 1998-2006. So a couple dark young guns years in there ya. I think the Blasty is cool cause its cheezy 90's design.

The oilers can suck my dick. What a first period but I definitely got a little concerned in the 2nd and 3rd when they stopped trying to hit us and actually started to play hockey. The new crew for the Flames is still a little bit disjointed but I expect that to smooth out as they play together more.

Also, I love the Michael Stone revenge tour. The guy had 3 pts in the first 7 minutes of saturdays game.

Yea top line not looking great 5v5... yet. But I expect that they'll figure it out.

Second like looks great. And specifically Kadri looks like a fucking stud out there.

PP1 snapping the puck around and looks stellar. Couple too many posts so far but they're going to be a dangerous PP.

Back end looking strong. Weegar is a bit of a spaz in his own end at time but Sutter will sort that out. He looks a like a young Giordano. Stone looking like the leagues best deal!

Vladar looking primo this year, which is great. Markstrom could use more nights off in the regular season.

When asked about why he chose to go with Vladar versus Edmonton Sutter's answer was that their plan for this season was to give Vladdy a minimum of 1 game a week. This should help with giving Markstrom some much needed rest plus also keep Vladar dialed in. Hopefully they stick with that plan so we don't have a repeat of round 2 of last year

well im happy the Flames broke the curse for longest active team losing in the opener, hopefully coupling that with a win against the defending champs + Edmonton is a big statement for this year and what is to come.

2-0 to start aint too bad at all. I think the top line will sort things out soon, 3 guys that haven't played together before just need some time to gel. I'm loving the second line so far, 3 speedsters who all play with a chip on their shoulder, they are fun to watch.

It's only been 3 games but I love the look of this team. Markstrom needs to stop letting in weak early goals and we'll be cruising, love the level of compete this group has.

I don't miss Gaudreau or Tkachuk.

I think the team is much more balanced than years past.
Exciting to see wave after wave dominating other teams.

Even the 4th line has been fantastic.

Huberdeau is purely in an adjustment period, once he catches on to the system watch out.

Lost in the reverse retro unveil, Darth Vladar signs a 2 year extension with the team. Kind of surprised by this. I understand hes a solid #2, but I think Wolf will be knocking on the door as soon as next year. Maybe they plan on swinging Vladar in the future for a 1st or 2nd like the did with Reto Berra a few years back.

I wouldn't doubt if Wolf is ready by next year, Vladar will be traded to be a #1 somewhere; he is that good. In the mean time, the more playing time Wolf gets though the better.

Having 3 goalies is a great problem to have. Lets hope Wolf pans out but untill then Vladar as a solid backup at $2m is decent.

Sabres looked good. Got into all our passing lanes to frustrate the flames, we started overplaying and never recovered. Excellent positioning and passing to find open shooting lanes. Looks like a totally different team.

There’s a narrow set of stairs across from section 215 that takes you downstairs to the club section.
