This is almost exactly how my company operates. It's really effective at eliminating underachievers.

I also put in way more hours overall than ever, but I certainly am not naive enough to think that is the case all around for everyone. It takes a certain personality type to be able to pull it off effectively I think.

Broadly, it's my opinion that WFH has provided the opportunity for peoples natural tendencies to be exaggerated.

If a person slacked in the before times, WFH may afford them the opportunity to be a complete pile of shit. If a person worked hard in the before times, WFH affords them to put in more hours and not be hamstrung by the inefficiency of commuting to/from the office for 1-2hrs per day, killing 10 min commuting between rooms for each meeting, getting bogged down by water cooler/coffee stops etc.
