It’s funny that the unions think this is a violation of their rights.

Reagan had a solution for these people.

Still pretty crazy that the people who process your taxes or passports can work from home half the time.

I would guess most government employees working at home work about as much as I do on vacation.

Need rigorous performance measurement. Then lowest 10% get laid off, highest 30% get a bonus not tied to seniority.

Even the best solitaire and minesweeper players need to leave their house for the in person tournaments.

Why on earth would govt workers agree to this and what politician is motivated to run on this platform.

This is almost exactly how my company operates. It's really effective at eliminating underachievers.

It's also demanding and overly competitive, but you can't have it both ways.

Who gives a fuck?

Seriously.

If the only reason you need to show up at work is for some paper pusher to "see you working", then you should definitely work from home.

Ironically, we could probably hit our climate targets if WFH was widely encouraged. Taxes are a much better alternative.

I know there's a lot of arguments about the pros and cons of WFH but people that WFH the most in our office are all the ones that were well known slackers before the whole COVID and WFH thing. I wonder why that is?

I find it funny the people who moved to the burbs or Cochrane or some nonsense during Covid and are now salty they need to go to work.

Did they think the pandemic was going to last forever?

Good luck with your job search in Cochrane.

I am one of the people who actually get way more quality work done from home than from the office just from not being distracted by the people. I also put in way more hours overall than ever, but I certainly am not naive enough to think that is the case all around for everyone. It takes a certain personality type to be able to pull it off effectively I think.

Broadly, it's my opinion that WFH has provided the opportunity for peoples natural tendencies to be exaggerated.

If a person slacked in the before times, WFH may afford them the opportunity to be a complete pile of shit. If a person worked hard in the before times, WFH affords them to put in more hours and not be hamstrung by the inefficiency of commuting to/from the office for 1-2hrs per day, killing 10 min commuting between rooms for each meeting, getting bogged down by water cooler/coffee stops etc.

This tracks. The people who see the most value in being at the office tend to be the ones who know their performance gets maximized with the diligent middle managers ensuring sustained productivity. The natural hard workers can work efficiently anywhere.

So, government employees, who were all dog fuckers before. Fuck the dog even harder under the concept of “working from home”.

Clearly demonstrated by essentially every government service’s measure able outcomes being completely hamstrung since the concept started.

It all adds up.

Anybody posting on Beyond between 7 and 5 should prob not discuss dogfuckeryFor some of us though, posting IS networking... Kinda like getting a deal done on the golf course. Is it not considered work simply because one is golfing when the deal is made? I really enjoy the people I have met here and posting on Beyond in general, but my reason for being here originated from what I do for a living.

Again though, I absolutely acknowledge that my situation is radically different than the person who is supposed to be processing claims yet is surfing forums lol/

I get more done at home. Right now I'm posting on this forum, playing stationary Pokemon GO and Arknights, alongside secondary monitor watching World Cup and other sports.

Drinking hot Cocoa and those little bitty marshmellows. Thats productive right?

Do ya'll really need middle managers breathing down your necks to get work done? Are you really that bad at working without hearing a whip cracking when WFH?

Its always the dog fuckers that have the most to say about dog fuckery.

Like I said, if the ONLY reason your job required you to go in is so a paper pusher can breath down your neck, you SHOULD just work from home.

There's a paradigm shift happening, and the old fucktards and Elons don't like change.

Child care is hard to get. Bug benefit of working from home is the flexibility to go without paid childcare and before-and-after care for school-aged kids.

So are they working or taking care of their kids?

Hint: Not the former.

I know person who works from home who thinks driving thier kids to and from school every day is a nice perk.
School is like 9:00-3:30, so I assume that's during working hours.
Yeah, does sound like a nice perk.

If you are watching your kids you aren’t working.

Classic “WFH”

People love WFH because it lets them get away with murder. Who wouldn’t like that. Combine with a job environment that had 0 accountability in the first place like a government job and what you have is millions of people on very expensive mincome.

It still cracks me up that whatever a CRA employee tells you has no standing whatsoever.
