Hi, I am listing my 1997 Mercedes Sl500 for sale, with an odometer reading of 168xxx kms. I have acquired this vehicle to step into the R129 era of car, and fully enjoyed every moment with it.
Basic information about the car:
1997 model year, first facelifted version with the M119 engine and 722.6 5 speed transmission. I would argue this model year is one of the best ones as it has the better M119 engine paired with the more modern 5 speed transmission, not to mention that it does not have the bio-degradable wiring harness as this is a common issue with most pre-1995 Mercedes models.
Color combination is dark blue exterior with grey interior.
I have purchased this car on Sep, 2021, and have done the following maintenance during my ownership, with a mix of me doing it myself and bring to a Mercesdes specialized shop (Motion Auto):
Oct 10, 2021 @ 160950 km, new tires installed, Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 plus, 225/55/R16
Oct 17, 2021 @ 160988 km, replaced thermostat(Beck arnley) and bypass hose, replaced 8 liters of coolant with Zerex G05.
Replaced air filter with OE Mann C22102.
June 9th, 2022 @ 162258 km, replaced transmission conductor plate kit @ motion auto.
June 21st, 2022@ 162302 km, replaced engine mounts @ motion auto
July 1st, 2022 @ 162330 km, replaced engine oil, pennzoil platinum euro 5w40 with OE mann filter.
Aug 13, 2022, replaced battery with Energizer AGM, size H8
The car runs and drives with no issues, mechanically will surprise you for a 25 year old car. Notwithstanding the maintenance I did, the previous owner serviced this vehicle exclusively at Prestige Auto in Edmonton, with includes tracked records in Carfax and a massive service just before I bought it (invoice available). The interior shows excellently, dash and seats are in great condition, with the only items revealing its age being the scratches on the speaker grills and center console. Exterior wise there are some imperfections, notably being some door dings, paint scratches.
