Emergency flights to evacuate French politicians and civilians. No plans to evacuate 20,000 troops.

Africa gon' Africa

Except they are waving Russian flag and praising Wagner. Interesting turn of event.

Russia take Ukrainian grain off market. Africa goes hungry, Wagner get cheap soldiers to fight Ukraine and bill Putin top dollars.

Win/Win?

I'm waiting for Taiwan to stop paying the USA protection money. The way the world is turning it might be next.

Hard to say whos thinking what. I can imagine that most of the nation is thinking it just got independance from French rule, and can now move forward as a nation free from European and USA tyranny. Something the USA should understand, they themselves kicking out the British rule with a similar coup so long ago.

In which case, its time to celebrate.

But, the surrounding states funded by ECOWAS (USA weaponry) may use kinetic force to re-instate a government more friendly toward France. Niger army would have a tough time going up against foreign soldiers armed and funded with European and US weaponry.

France has shown beta, as they were unable to keep the citizenry in line. Should the USA arm ECOWAS to take over as Alpha? How much territory should the USA get for said intervention?

Putin may have just got a new ally.

Russia meddles in Niger, and supports a coup. Lives lost.
Russia meddles in Ukraine, and starts a war. Many (many) lives lost.
Just waiting for the 3rd meddling incident so Putin can complete his trifecta of death and destruction.

And yes, in the past, this was usually the USA causing (or at least participating) in killing. I am not oblivious to their own war-mongering ways - although I truly believe at least SOME of their involvements were justified. (Such as the 1st Gulf war).
