Has anybody heard what’s going on with this? Our shop internet has been down for the last 3 weeks (IP phones suck) and the customer service rep finally told us their wires have been getting cut in manholes around the city. Sounds like our block had a 900 or 1200 pair hacked through, nothing stolen. Disgruntled employees or something more nefarious happening? Like everything else, I blame Trudeau for personally doing it.

Crack heads stealing for copper....they are dumb and sometimes cut fiber because they don't know better....has been happening alot the past year. Could be some disgruntled ex employee telling people where to cut though

Happens a lot and is happening more often. Lots of places for them to hide to do the prep work, then they hook it up to a truck and pull it all out.

You can't have nice things.

Saw quite a few distribution boxes got robbed of their UPSs.

So to follow up this thread, our shop has had service now for 3 days the last month and has had cables damaged 3 times now. The Telus guy said they have between 3-4000 manholes in the city and even the ones welded closed still get broken into. We will see if our service makes it to Monday morning.
