I realize this sounds like an affiliate marketing thread.. should be great for beyonds SEO haha!

Anyhow my brother is looking for a GPU, he is not rich, therefore wants a deal. I think his goal is to have it run GTA when it comes out in a year or two if possible.

My best guess was a 4060 or a 3070, but then I realized I in fact have no fucking clue. I think he wants to stay roughly in the $500 range if that would work for the goal set out above ^

Any beyond gamers know what the 'value' card is these days? Does brand matter? Is Memex the best place to grab them?

Any advice appreciated

My buddy suggested a geforce rtx 4070. It’s $764 at memory express. I havnt bought it as everything I play still barely works on my pc.

I picked up a used 3060 ti for $200. hard to beat that value. If he doesn't need a new card right now, I'd wait. Value should (hopefully) only increase over the next couple years

Future proofing for PC is next to impossible but DLSS seems to be better than FSR. So team green cards that supports DLSS may have longer life.

I'm with getting 3060ti used and cheap to get DLSS and see where things settle in 2 years when GTA is actually released. May be it'll be as bad as Cyberpunk where it brings even 4090 to its knees.

4060 Ti is $500 so probably your best bet for buying new in your price range.

3060 for the 12GB will serve well.

Future proofing is indeed dumb.

Buy something that meets current needs today, and save the money to buy something that meets 2 years from now needs in 2 years.

Thanks all, seems like a used 3060ti or if buying new a 3060 and 4060 (whichever is cheaper)

GTA6 is at least 2 years out on console. 4 years out on windows. Too soon junior.

Then again, by then PS5 would release a GTA6 bundle at $600 that will probably way cheaper than PC gaming.
