If money is not an issue, there are guys in Sask...CWS Tuning I think is the name...they dropped in a few 1.8t's into MKII's...you should check them out...

and if your really well off financially get a VR6 with twin turbo's from a company in Langley, BC. Can't remember the name, but they also do entire Quattro AWD conversions to Golfs and Beetles.

You prob won't be interested since it will cost about 10 times more than the car is worth, but hey money-bags(aka 87wolfsberg) didn't say cost was an issue.

I've got a 2.0L 16V swap in my car (87GTI) said and done it costs about 3-4k installed. Thats including labor, the motor it's self, rebuild on it, all conversion to the CIS-E Motronic Fuel Injection, trany axles etc. I've also got a set of Euro Spec Race Cams, they make the biggest difference for sure. My car's not terribly fast, but it runs 15.6 @89mph out at race city. Fastest I saw any Non Turbo MK2 last year at race city was 16.4.

The 16V has a Plethora of Mods available over the 8v that Actually gice decent results.

Swapping in a VR6 is about 6 grand, a 1.8T is about 8.

1.8T is your best option for available power to money ratio, however has the greatest initial cost. VR6 is second, however a Supercharged VR6 would be my Ideal, except it would be about a 13,000 swap into the car (motor and charger kit + install)
