Considering to purchase 7mgte for my 1987 toyota supra turbo.
Is there any one that can give me a ball park price of the engine itself + labour. Any sponser that can reply and shoot a price, that'll be great. Or would anyone recommend another engine that has more potential and performance than the 7mgte, price i'm looking the spend is around $1000-2000, give or take a few hundred. Also, which shop would have the most experience installing the 7mgte? Thank you.

I know JDM source gives out a reasonable price. Just comparing prices to see which is the better shop to go with. Hopefully the JDM source sponsor could post up the price and labour cost.

There website is jdmsource.ca

I think I saw the 7MGTE for $400 US a while ago when I was looking at Toyota motors. I'm not sure if they do installs though...I didn't think that they did.

On the site its quoted at $700 US. Just want to know what shop would ppl recommend, and that would set me up with a good price. Is there any other shop that would have the 7mgte in stock? if so, price of engine + labour.

Does that price include harness, ecu and transmission?

1jz-gte is my guess too. Head gasket has about 10000km life on a new one. hks about 20000 so if your going withn the 7m plan on knowing how to change the head gasket yourself because they dont last too long. But the 7m is still good:thumbsup:

Yah but that 1JZ is gonna cost you an arm and a leg to get it.

7M is a good engine but it's basically a truck engine with a turbo. Should do the good 'ol 2JZGTE swap and all your problems will be solved!

How is it a truck engine with a turbo?

The M-engine series was never used in a truck...

I'd also like to know that.

The 7mgte is VERY similar to the 3sgte, just with 2 more cylinders...

And look at where the 7M-GTE developed from: the 2000cc 3M from the Toyota 2000GT. Definitely no truck history in there. If you look at the Toyota chassis codes the only cars the M-series were fitted to were Supra's, Soarer's, Crown's and Cresta/Chaser/Mark II/Cressida's.

Though the 3S concept has more in common with the 2JZ and 1UZ, they all have 86x86 bore/strokes, and other similarities.
