That C class is going to be much more economical to drive, ask yourself..do you really need an SUV? Most people don't. I'd examine the market as well to see which holds it's value better. I don't know the figures off hand but I'm guessing the German made C class holds it's value much better than the US made ML. This may sound strange but the C class feels more like a Benz to me, the ML doesn't impress me.

i hate to say this but the ML is gonna lose its value so much soon as they release the new body style...and right now there are soooo many.....the c230 will hold its value alot more then the ml..u dont even wanna know what iam trading it for

Just checked the going prices for both vehicles. The c230 appears to go for anywhere from 36-40 while the 2003 ML320 costs anywhere from 43-49. I didn't realise the ML's went for that much used.

Personally I'm not a huge fan of the ML or c-class. However, if you ever want to mod again I say go for the supercharged C-class, there's quite a few things you can do to get some decent power out of it.

They gave me a c320 last year for a couple days and it felt pretty good I suppose.

4 wheel drive is over rated, I've never had a problem getting anywhere with my car during the winter.

couple of things to consider:

The C 230 sport WILL hold value better than the ML, there are TONS of MLs for sale. ML is built in Alabama and suffers from quality issues, whereas the C is built in Germany.

The 230 (Kompressor I assume) is a good little engine and is more than enough to boot the car around town, the 320 has been replaced by the 350 in the ML (therefore it will lose even MORE value) and is the smallest engine available.

The C class is the entry level benz so don't expect it to be as solid as the E (clk is also based on c chassis so is similar) or as nice on the highway.

If you are looking to mod eitehr vehicle, there is a large aftermarket following for the C compared to the ML.

As Redlyne said, do you NEED the SUV and 4wd? Why not see about a C class 4-matic?

Hope that helps!

The c is a sweet car in the end :)

What I don't like about the Benz sports packages is that you are paying huge money for options that youll never get your money back from

Firstly if you put sway bars and upgrade suspension you will have a car with exact handling to the current bmw sport packaged 3 series. I find it very comfortable, trouble free, and unique once upgraded. If you are buying brand new c230 I may wait till July when the slightly redisigned one will come out, it has newer interior, slight outside mods. The engine is really fuel efficient and you can get a pulley and some other renntech goodies to boost HP, but with a 1.8 litre engine don't expect anything crazy. I know alot about the current C-Class so if you have any questions PM me
cheers and enjoy the hunt

A workmate of mine bought a white C class wagon, and put very nice 2+ rims & tires on it. He traded a 1999 Acura Suv (what's it called, MVX or something?) because he no longer felt he needed a SUV. That little Benz wagon is so nice, and my work friend is extremely happy with his decision..

I recall when I worked at the Subaru/Mazda/Mitsubishi dealership that we just hated ML's. People always wanted big bux in trade ("Its a Mercedes Fucking Benz! Whadda ya mean giving me THAT for it?") But they just did not sell. We had to auction them.
Even at auction, the only ones that sold were black or silver. If it was any other colour we were stuck with it. Even the MBz dealershipss didn't want them back at under wholesale.

Good choice. I heard there where lot of problems with the ML's from my MB tech. Every time i take my car in for service there is usually 4 or 5 ML's parked at the Service department.

C- Class also has it's share of problems too but over all i think it was a good move by you. Enjoy.

nice choice, so you got a auto with which packages? get bi-xenons, they are much cheaper getting them from the dealer then aftermarket

 Good Choice SIR!! I would've gone with the C-Class cause that car is so  ...one of my favorites. Those rims look like the exact same rims on the slk 320.

Maybe the Mercedes cognoscenti here can tell me what the best Mercedes is. The S model? Of course, but I am looking to spend a little less money. What would be the best Mercedes for Under $50K? (new or used)

Since the bitch got the house, I can live in a rented dump and drive a nice car.

Now a retarded question - do all MBz' burn premium? (excluding the diesels, of course)

Hakkola

They sure do! Actually, I'm not positive that the 230 engines do, but if they don't I'd be surprised.
