View Full Version : Which Amp

I was planning on getting an amp but dont really know which kind to get. I wanted to run just 1 15" Titanium DVC with 550rms and dual 4 ohms. so anyone out there know wat amp I should run this with. iam looking to spend around 200-250.

Good luck finding a 550rms amp for 200-250. Usually you're looking at about $1/watt for a half-decent amp.

I'm biased but the JL 500/1 is a good amp to be running for ~500rms applications.

not going to happen for that price. I had an Alpine rated at 651 watts and it retails for $899.

With a 15" DVC you will need plenty of power to run that sucker properly, if not, it will sound like junk.

JL, Alpine, PG are the amps I would run personally in that order....

Alpine MRD M500 is a great amp and sometimes cash converters has them for dirt cheap (compared to retail).

If that is all you are willing to spend, you could probably get 1000 Jenson watts from Walmart. But remember that you get what you pay for. :)

I know where you can get a amp to meet your requirements


Try a JBL BP600.1

They can be had for about $200-$250 on ebay.

They have been bench tested to put at a true 627 wrms at 1 or 2 ohms mono.

It is a very good, rock solid amp for low cost.

I agree JBL BP600.1 is decent for the price.
I have one powering an elemental designs E12O sub.

I bought mine from Etronics.com $220ish american. With shipping, duty, taxes, exchange rate it came out to almost $400 canadian.

Umm, I don't see much difficulty with finding a 500W amp used for 200 bucks. I've had a bunch of them. Anyways, what I'm slightly confused with what sub you're using. Is it the Eclipse Ti, or PG Ti, or Ti Elite? 550 will run the regular Ti just fine, but don't dream of getting good results running an Eclipse or PGTi Elite. :p
