It doesnt matter too much if the car is stock....what were looking for is a group of guys (and their cars) that are euro and have some class, we'd like to stay away from "rice burners" and that sort of thing. Just get a group of guys that are crazy about NICE european cars....20 correct me if I'm wrong on this....

I'm assuming were not gonna have very many VW's if any, since they have all got "club vee dub" & "new vee dub".....

Exactly except ladies with hot cars are our VIP members, maybe GIRLRACER will arrange a trip to Holt Renfrew and show us the new Gucci gear.

But if your car is stock and has a blue/white propellar on the front or a three point star join. To apply/join send an e-maill to [email protected] with name, Car & mods, and anything you want to see us do.

he is creating a CLUB....I wouldn't say that beyond.ca is really a true "club"...it's more like a group of enthusiasts who meet occasionally for meets etc. An example of a "true club" is say clubveedub where people pay for a membership which gets them entitled to discounts at stores and stuff like that.

His club seems to be focused on euros/high end euros/:bigpimp: cars.....not just anybody can join (ie: his club is dedicated to euros only). Essentially only a group of people whos cars fit under certain criteria should join..

hope you understand what I am gettin at...

I like the whole idea of getting together to go for cruises often. Beyond doesn't really have that except for the yearly bbq's. Plus, with so many members it takes a lot more planning for those kinds of events.

ok to clear things up about the VW's....I've seen some VW's in Calgary, well the ones I've seen were the member rides of Newveedub, but they are REALLY nice rides, nicer than most Bimmers and MB's I see.....so some of you guys who are like"I drive a vw...I cant join"...wrong. Were just looking for NICE european cars! If you'd feel out of place with your car, well that's up to you...and yes we are trying to focus on higher end euro stuff....but in my opinion....all euro is high end (compaired to the other crap out there.....no offence to anyone... ), but my point is..I've seen some sweet VW's that I would love to have in a club like this.........so think twice.

What about a stock 84 GTI with less than 100k on it and in mint condition?

Or a 75 Rabbit swallowtail that has been modified to 1975 euro GTI specs?

Or a euro tuned and styled mk1 jetta coupe with a 1.8T conversion?

it dont matter, the club is 'exclusive' which was already stated. exclusive means some people will be excluded. My old A2 VW wont fit in anyways, im cool with that, plus as mentioned, there are a few VW clubs around. Shit, i cant really even be a part of newveedub cause the "exclusive" to A4 VW's (last i heard). Ill get over it, all the same people are on beyond anyways.

PS - If you have a Phaeton, or Touareg or R32, im willing to bet they will let you in ;)

FWIW the R32 is not high end euro either, just a sweet high performance golf IV.

Holy cow, you Euro guys are worse than ricers at some points in this thread man...Yes VW's are German, but it's just like if there was a Luxo Rice club, only Lexus's Infinity's and Acura's will really be permitted, not, Toyota's, Nissan's and Honda's respectively...So VW guys, i know y'all wanna join, but let the big boys have thier club, who cares really, like has been stated a million times in the thread there are numerous VW clubs so go join of of them, god knows how many clubs I have wanted in on, but bcasue of my car couldn't gain entry who the *beep* cares... aren't we reasonably all adults here, its not like the playground where when you arent allowed to play you can go tell Mrs. Hoover...just leave it at that...and Euro guys enjoy your lil clique...

BTW, being a DSM can I join??...you know the whole Daimler Chrysler thing...just wondering:D...heck, I will even slap on an AMG badge if need be...j/k...

Called you on an ignorant comment and I get the  - good one. My point was just that drawing brand lines is silly. Think a rusty old BMW should join up, yet a done up r32 (golf, yes but a very very expensive and very fast golf) should not?

At any rate, I agree VWs already have enough great options for clubs which is why I suspect most of us would stay out even if it was open. BTW isn't there a Mercedes only club in town?

Why would Ben be insulted? I never have and never will insult my friends...let it go man...

or instead of being so discriminatory to CERTAIN VW's....NO VW's period. (besides a certain photographer friend we all know and love...)

Ok imagine a kid starts a club for kids that live on a specific street. Then that kid decides to make an exception for this one guy because he has a nice camera that the club can use. That's the insult.

Khyron

ZorroAMG
04-21-2004, 07:01 PM
Hey ignoramus, it has nothing to do with his camera. Ben is my friend. That's it. Don't get all pissy at me because your Jetta (you don't own a phaeton, touareg or R32) isn't regarded as high-end as a BMW or MB. We just want our own club, what the heck is wrong with that? Any more stupid comments to me can be brought to PM.

hjr
04-21-2004, 07:03 PM
what he is saying is that his jetta is nicer than bens gti and by the criteria set up by the club he should be accepted if ben is. All or none, or who cares?

why are people fighting about this? its irrelivant.

ZorroAMG
04-21-2004, 07:07 PM
It is completely irrelevant. The criteria has been set.

Khyron
04-21-2004, 07:11 PM
Actually my Jetta suxors and I would stay out even if it didn't (too many clubs available as it is!) Invite me - I will decline. That's not why I commented.

My point was just that it looks bad - like you'd let an older MK2 into the club because he's a good photographer, yet the car alone wouldn't cut it. You see? I know I'd sure feel out of place. :D

Anyway it doesn't matter to me - if Ben's not insulted then I guess I'm mistaken. Maybe I'm the only one that got that impression. :dunno:

Khyron

ZorroAMG
04-21-2004, 07:23 PM
Khyron, I am sorry if you mistook my comments as insulting. Ben is a really close friend of mine and I never meant to insult him or anyone. I got a little riled up at you and for that I apologize cause I know Ben would love to be a part of the meets to help his skill develop and that was why I offered. I think very highly of VW's, their styling and performance, and with all due respect and not wanting to sound elitest, the club just isn't about VW's. :)

With all the VW rambling going on I'll try to end it by saying I really like the current Golfs (good friend has 02 VR6 2 door and I really enjoy driving it) and Jettas but you see so many of them, usually I don't even take a second glance unless a hot blonde is behind the wheel even if it's got 18's. But a VW like in the attached pic is another story.

Now on a second note, I'm on 17th and 5th SW intersection today and I see this car pull up next to me, it's got a flames flag, which I haven't seen in any of the stores I visit, so I roll down the window ask where to get it (Home Depot but they may be sold out) and then the car pulls off, and it's and older e-class black, tunerworks sticker, was that you ZORRO???

Neat, ZorroAMG's car is ancient compared to an MK4 (50 grand with 20k in mods) and worth about 15k total. Love the ideology

Meh, no big deal, like it's been said, there are other clubs for us VW guys. I build my car for me anyhow, not to be a part of a group that discriminates on dollar value. Was looking forward to doing some nice pics for the club too.

Peace.

Welp, this club can go  it's self as far as I'm concerned. Ciao. Euro club and then discriminate against the cars that actually paved a lot of the euro scene in north america and brought the pocket rocket euro racer image to north america...

Zorro, I dont think people have a problem with the club. That has NOTHING to do with it. Alot of the cars that are entering this club are sweet. Yours, my bro's, Chris's, and of course clems. I think the problem is the way your attitude came across. Hope you guys get this club rolling, cause there are some sweet euro's in this City.... so you should have a ton of members in no time.:D

I have no problem with what you said, just the ideologies of this club. If it had been stated it was a luxury club from the beginning, I wouldn't have said a thing, but then all the hating on VW's started and I just feel that if it's a euro club, they should be allowed, if it's a luxury euro club, then they shouldn't.

I will agree that there are some people in this thread with their nose and ego stuck pretty high.

Meh, enjoy your club.
