Well... I was always a car fan, but stuff like Bulitt, & Dukes of Hazzard. But the thing that really got me into imports (I used to be the biggest Muscle head all jap is crap etc...) was I hate to say it Initial D... yes Initial D, (commence with making fun of me) when the game came to U of C, I found myself playing all the time! I then went home and downloaded the english subbed episodes. And became an import guy, I still know alot about muscle cars (know thy enemy)

I know it's not a movie, but Gran Turismo 1 and Need for speed (Porsche Unleashed mostly), got me hooked on cars and added fuel to the fire more than anything else.

Ronnin kicked ass though, I think it's time to watch a DVD.

The 50's B-Grade classic Hot Rods From Hell.

Then, as I grew older, and saw Two Lane Blacktop, I knew I wanted a real street machine.

However, after I saw Easy Rider I dropped the whole car thing and got into bikes, cuz those guys actually hung out with women and did some crazy things.

American Graffiti makes me want to cruise town in my car, no matter how shitty it is, but I would have to say the 1974 Gone In 60 Seconds got me goin.

Movies? hmm.. probably Grand Prix!! Best racing movie ever..

But the first car/media memory I have is the first time I saw the General Lee jump over a cop car - I was hooked!! haha! After that that, I just became a total gearhead.

I used to watch racing as a kid, I never watched hockey or stick-and-ball sports, only racing. I remember clearly watching the Grand Prix at Zolder in 1982 when I was 9 and seeing the highlights of Gilles Villeneuve's (Jacques dad) huge crash in qualifying where he was flung from the car and killed.

Actually I (hope I don't get slapped) hated cars before, what made me start loving cars is when I bought my first one. I just wanted to know everything about it, from there it stemmed into wanting to know everything about Honda's. Then I figured it would probably be good to know as much as I could about other competitor cars (so I don't try to take out something that would kick my ass and embarass me =))

Only then did I really start looking for cars in movies and on the street and such...before I probably wouldn't give a crap.

When I was younger I was the same. I was a in love with airplanes and helicopters. You can't compare a Mach 2 (approx. 1400mph) fighter jet with a 200mph car. Only after I started to learn how to drive I fell in love with cars.

But back to the question
I would have to say the movie Gone in 60 Second (2000), and F&F got me interested in the Import scene. But cars like Kitt, the General Lee, the Back to the Future Deloren, the Mad Max cars helped nurture the interest in cars.

Vanishing point! That was another cool movie, more for Mopar fans tho! I remember the movie that really got me into cars. Can't remember the name tho, 80's movie with a early 70's (Mach1?) Supercharged red mustang, dude would race at night against all kinds or crazy shit, but no one could beat him, till some guy comes into town, with a blown white duster, and before going to the race the guy opens up the NOS bottle in the trunk. And he uses the nitrous in the race, blows up his car but still wins. guy in the duster drives by as the stang is burning and gives him the . so lame but ah well...

Unfortunately all I had was $7600. The fact that I managed to get a 240sx with an SR20DET put in for less than a stock 240sx was quite a feat IMHO.

Give me 5 valid reasons why you would take the RB25DET over the SR20, and "Skylines are the shit and they own everything cuz I saw one in 2F2F and it was the best. Brian O'Connor is my idol." is not a valid reason...

yeah, good old dukes of hazzards (daisy duke:drool: ). Also gone in 60 seconds, when F&F came out i thought it was a joke(granny shifting, 9 seconds flat........with a sound system in the back that weighs like 200 pounds).

The thing that really got me into imports though was this one guy who wrote into Hot Rod magazine. They had just started doing this project integra, and he went on how great his camaro is and how he spent 10 grand to make 400hp and no import can do that, his camaro is the shit. blah, blah, blah .

So I vowed to shut up every ignorant sob just like him.

I kind of went full circle - I started out crazy about cars thanks to shows like Dukes of Hazzard, Knight Rider, AND.... (ugh) the movie "Six Pack" (SHUT UP!) :whocares:

I was probably 5 or 6, living in Hong Kong.. There were 2 movies, I don't even know what the movies were called.. I just remember what it was about.

There's these rich kids, and Wong Gim plays the rich father of these punks. They drive daddy's cars (I remember a 944 was in the movie) and other exotics, racking up tickets and i think killed some pedestrians. The problem was they were getting away with it (I don't remember why, but the Dad wasn't the one helping).

Anyways, there's the cops that race bikes during off duty. So they setup to meet these rich punks while they're driving daddy's cars and race them on bikes. They set up car blocks at the very end and the bikes dodge them, but the punks couldn't stop in time and smoked the cars blocking the intersection at 160+.

The 2nd movie had Cheung Hok Yau in it.. they were street racers and convicts or somethin like that, cops go after them (pretty much the whole movie was about street racing). And at the end they fly out of a parking lot in a 4 door accord, gets capped by a bunch of caps waiting for them outside, car flips and the movie's over.

Yeah, I was liking cars ever since then.

civic_stylez
