Alternator Light/Revs High

I have a 88 Honda Accord, 4 CYL, 2 B Carb. Within the last 2 weeks I've been getting an alternator light, on and off. It may be coincidental, but she also idles abnormally high, around 3K RPMs when the alt light comes on. Yesterday for example, no light all day and idled fine. Any chance there's a corrallation between the two?

My guess is not. I plan on changing the alt, but not sure this will cure the problem.

Any recommendations or similiar problems?

Yup your alternator is dying, I had similar problems where the idle is bouncing from 1500 to 2000 and the battery light was on. Thought it was the battery but I got it checked and turns out my alternator was dying. I replaced it and no more problems ever since...

Just had the alt replaced today, and so far so good. I still don't see the correlation between the alt and engine idle speed, but......
