nice bike (whats the hp?), just be careful man...there have been WAY too many deaths already this year.

Thanks man :) It has 115 HP. I am and will be careful. Especially as its early in the season with loose gravel still on the roads and drivers not used to bikes. The roads are also cold so the tires dont stick as well yet.

Does anyone know the best way to take the stickers that are on the brand new bikes off? I heard a blow dryer? Rubbing alcohol to get the rest of the stuff off after that? But wouldent the rubbing alcohol be bad on the paint?

hair dryer then acetone to clean off the sticky spunk after. You will have to wax and polish after.

115 hp - is that at the rear wheel?

I am so amazed that only 10 years later a rather usual 600cc sportbike that costs around $12K produces more bhp than an exotic superbike of a decade earlier, even with close to $10K in mods being spent on said aging superbike over the years.

115 hp from a 600. I am gobstruck.

I read in a magazine (Sport rider I think), that 600's might well be pushing 125 HP (stock, no pipes) from the factory by 2006 (summer).

Pretty crazy. I thought the 600's were at the point of diminishing returns, but I guess not!

But to get that 115, you really gotta wind up the Gixxer.

thats at the crank

And what does it weigh, perchance? About 410 lbs? Maybe less?

I love the power of these high winding little fours, but I really have to say that they shine best on a racetrack. On the street you cant use that power in its optimal range. Torque is almost nonexistant.
Dont assume that I am knocking 600-4's, its just that on this planet torque makes for a more satisfying ride, IMHO. I am anxious to hear a 600 riders perspective on what conditions exist where he can really use the bike's potential, and where he finds it delivers the most satisfaction.

I really like 2 cylinder bikes because of the torque they produce, and I have to wonder if Markopolian would not have derived as much enjoyment out of a Suzuki SV650S at $4000 less dollars than this thoroughbred that he just bought?

No shot intended at any 600-4 rider is intended. I just hope to get some feedback on the daily useability of the 600-4 for my own edification.

I'm a big fan of the twins. But it really is all about opinion, if you want lots of torque and limited top end than a twin is the way to go but if you want the top end then a inline 4 is the way to go. I have a Buell x1 lightning, and its a 1200cc twin and i like it but im looking at getting a RC51 or a TL1000 because they have alot better top end than the buell. But in comparing the sv650s to the gixxer 600 the gixxer is a much more powerful bike. You may have to rap it out more but it deffinatly is a faster bike.

Completely correct bombprelude. So. it becomes a matter of what type of riding you do and where you ride.
There are no bad bikes. But each of us have different needs and tastes. Markopians Gixxer is going to entertain him for a long time.
