Hello...

This is my first post here. I'm considering purchase of a Brit sportscar. I was thinking TR4 or 6, or MG or maybe an Austin. I've run across the idea of a Lotus Elan though and am wondering if any of you can guide me in the right direction.

Are they comfortable for a 6'2" driver ?

What are the differences between S1 S2 S3 and S4 ?

What years were they made ?

Any year known as the best year ?

Please feel free to offer any info you think I need.
Thanks in advance.

Steve

at 6'2 you should be fine. It actually has decent head room. Pedal room is kind of tight. The S4 models are generally considered the best but there really isn't any bads years for them. There is also a 2+2 version if you are looking for more room. There is a buyer's guide in this month's British Car Magazine - http://www.britishcar.com/ Watch out for rusted frame and missing trim and interior bits. And cracks in fiberglass.

Also consider a Jensen Healey which uses the Lotus 907 motor. Try for a 74+ car.

Also there is a great Brit car forum at: http://www.britishcarforum.com

Last time I checked a Miata is a Mazda, a Japanese manufacturer. How it could be British is beyond me.

It is a reliable modern copy of a Brit sports car of the 60s. Nothing wrong with that.
