I heard getting into 3rd year management is tough, because they kick out a lot of students (something like 180/400).

Whats the minimum gpa to get into 3rd year, and do they count the 1st year gpa for that? (someone answered this before in another thread but I want to make sure)

they don't kick anyone out of third year (at least none that i know of)... it's definitely hard to get in though.

You need a high GPA and you're running against a very limited # of seats to get in; i think ever since they instituted direct-entry, there are only like 20-30some seats in Haskayne for 3rd year and MRC transfers.

if u wanna kno the minimum GPA, go and call the registrar's office at Haskayne - it changes year to year.

Really?

A lot of my dad's friend's sons and daughters had to drop out of haskayne because their marks werent high enough. I'm already in haskayne, but I keep hearing that you need some insane 3.4ish gpa to stay in the faculty

it's super brutal to get in (ie. min 3.4ish), but once you're in, you should be fine. Think you only need a min C+ avg. As long as you don't fail FNCE twice ;) , you should be fine.

As far as I know you only need to maintain a 2.0 GPA to stay in Haskayne. It's getting in that requires the insanely high GPA. Last I heard you needed at least a 3.4 to even be considered and I think a 3.8 was gauranteed. That's up there with med school requirements.....INSANE!!

these ppl shouldn't have been there in the first place if they can't even manage a C :thumbsdow

the only course that kills u at Haskayne is FNCE... and i have to redo that. :guns:

if you're smart enough to get a 3.8, i don't think you'd go to Haskayne.

You just need a C once you're in but I believe this year they weren't letting in anyone under 3.6. My uncle is actually assistant dean of business but I don't remember what he told me the cut off was.

If your transferring from another school they only take your past 10 classes' GPA so pretty much just your last year.

Wow....last year it was 3.6 garanteed.

They have 180 spots to fill out of hundreds of applications. I have heard that there are up to 2000 applications including transfers and 4th year transfer.

I should be sitting at about a 3.8 transferring into the program for fall so I that should suffice.

Like everyone's already said, getting in is the insane part. It gets higher and higher every year.

Staying in is a 2.00 min GPA. I know :D

It's because of direct entry. It's not as bad as everyone says. 3.35 was the minimum allowed GPA last year. That's only a B+.
And it's your last 10 courses so take like... Compsci 203, sociXXX, BIOL307, ANTH3XX.
Direct entry did make it harder though. The year I came in it was only like 3.15 or something like that.
