Claimer racing is truly entry level, grassroots Oval Racing. As the rules read ‘These are not racecars these are cars we race’. Claimer racing is intended to be a fun, economical way to explore racing. With their radios blasting, these cars are truly a lot of fun to watch and even more fun to drive. For just $420 you too can race at Race City.

Its a peice of 8" channel Iron, it is refered to as a "door bar" just for driver protection.... (notice its at bumper height :D)

yea, that would probably be a decent car for it... its just tough to find a decent car cheap, i think over half the filed this year will be tempo's.. :D

i think we have like 40-50 cars regisered so far, gonna be a blast (this is my first year, both me and my brother have a car (his car is #16, but his fiancee will likely be driving it because he has an Enduro car to race))

the point is for the cars to be as stock as possble any car can be claimed for $420 (20 goung to charity 400 to the cars owner)

the whole point of tht is so if you are stupid enough to put $1500 into a car you are wasting your money.... and BTW this is just afun class, no prize money or anyhting, just points and braging rights....

this class is just for fun that anyone with a few hundred dollars can get on the track!

my car costed me like $250 to build, including the car (not including the harness because that is the only thing you get to take out of the car when/if it is claimed.

Do you work at Federal Metals? Or did they provide you with some steel in exchange for their name to appear on the car?

Gonthro
05-05-2004, 12:49 PM
they gave me a deal (not free) on the steel needed for the roll posts and channel iron for the door bar... my brother knows a guy that works there... i think he is the owners son

what are you allowed to do to the engine?

There are a few "free" mods you could do to that E16!

Gonthro
05-26-2004, 12:45 PM
you're not "allowed" to do anything. but its just a fun class, and basically what they dont see they dont know, but its not an e16
its a ca20s

ahhhh, okay i thought you had the "hopeless chokeless".

good luck, who usually dominates the races? is there a perfect claimers car?

I wanted to get in this but the pulsar is a 5spd and so is the 300zx.

I've got an old 89 cavalier that would probably be really good, i'll have to come down there and watch.

Gonthro

have you heard anythign about the ca20s? i have never had any chance to test the car...

also the ideal (but reasonable) car would be a turbo daytona.... one guy has a renault thats pretty quick too

these guys have! If you filter through the shit you can find some good ideas for free power.

The "minute rice sentra" and "myetball" guys are pretty good with the older nissan 4 cyls.

i was told i could chnage some things like the fuel rail and stuff and turn it into a (ca20et) turbo'd car and still look stock :D

Just a reminder if anyone is goin out on sunday (the race has been moved due to the hockey game) cheer me on :D
