this came across my mind today...

what do you guys think would be the most cost effective street-oriented supermoto bike?

klr650?
kdx220?
xr650?

etc and whatnot...

im probably biased (family has 2) but im a huge fan of the kawa KLR650. I have never riden one with dedicated street tires, but i think it is a nice bike on intmediate knobbies so i imagine it would be better with a proper street tire. it is really far to heavy for very spirited back trail riding, but if you are just cruizing around the trails or terrible mexican roads, then its perfect. I think its a pretty competant bike on the street too. no problems on the highway. sits a bit tall (im 6-2 and it would not be good if it was any taller, though this is with dealer upgraded suspension which raised it some). i dont really have much experience with the other 2. one of the bad things that kept me away from the honda xr650 is it has a much smaller tank. the bikes we have are used for long distance riding, such as up north or around central mexico so range is a big deal.
