What types of "regular" cars do undercover cops drive to catch speeding cars? What are the most common regular cars cops drive? (For e.g. - drives domestics cars, tinted windows, etc.)

(Cause i saw an interpid with its tinted windows and a cop siting inside. So that made me curious to find out what cops favour to drive?)

BIG domestics. Crown Vics, Intrepids, Impalas.

Also, Caravans for photo radars...watch out for those vans parked on the side of the road with tinted windows, and if your lucky to see, a huge camera system which can be seen through the windshield.

There's supposedly only one or two intrepid ghost cars in town. My buddy's dad gives the green light everytime they pass a new cop car, last time i heard his dad was looking at Trail blazer's.. As for import cop cars, It's rare, RX-8, hummer, ....blank mind...

we had a couple show up down the street last year in an 80's lemans, neither were in any shape to be cops,a male and a female, bot 40 lbs overwait..I would have never taken them as cops until I seen their ID,,I see lots in red Deer at the police school at the airport, and can pick a mountie out anytime, but these 2 no way,and the car no way,no dash light or CRL plate..

99% will be domestics because the imports don't usually offer as good of a fleet deal or a police package with their cars. I've spotted Jeeps, Intrepids, Impalas, Durangos, Explorers, Tahoes, Suburbans, Crown Vics, Astros, and a Camaro as ghost cars in Alberta. Usually they're fairly easy to spot, lower end models with tinted windows, flat colors, low end rims with no hub caps, and all have had the tell tale black fleet sticker on their plate. I only consider a 'ghost' car as one that has a computer and interceptor lights, ie a pursuit capable vehicle.

Yesterday while we were going west on 16 ave beside Peter's drive in I look over and see a guy in newer blazer leaning over the console with a police style radio talking to someone. (It looked just like something out of a movie) We were right beside him until we approched center street, when he slowed almost to a stop to slid into the row of cars turning left. It was very strange. The first thing the wife and I thought was "Undercover cop" but the truck looked very plain, only the back windows were tinted. (Unfortunately I wasn't able to get behind him to look for the fleet plate) I can't say for sure it was (or wasn't) a cop.. but I'll be a little more aware now

if he was hiding the fact that he was using his radio then he was probably PI following someone.

I believe they do, but are mostly stock. The racers over there have better equipment as well and can get away in their 800+hp skylines and supras and evo's and sti's etc.

Most Japanese cops drive Toyota Crowns, actually most of the cops I saw were on foot there, very few cruisin around even on the freeways, and with toll roads and gates everywhere, police chases don't last very long...
Not everyone drives a 800hp car over there, they have ricers to... all show and no go cars.. Most of the shop cars are very high hp, and the guys that work at the shops take those cars out for kicks on weekends, there are private owners with kickass cars , but with gas being 1.50 a litre+, alot of the cars are bone stock under the body kits...Maxt

where i live, they do use WRX's as police cars, They are mainly used for the Street Racing units only. He gets a new import car every 6 months or so. He goes to the races and get people that way.

it looks bone stock on the outside but once he flips his visor down...IT"S ON!

You guys wont believe this, i was pulled over in a old old Volvo 4 door it was dark old red, the car wasnt mint they were from this special team, thats in calgary of course. they were nice after why i explained i passed them on the opposite side of the road.

Also there is also, i am not just saying this cause i have one, a white toyota supra with white or black rims they look like spares or something) this can be confirmed asking around. again same types of cops drive this one, its so strange

also there is a a white toyota rav 4 but teh cop is uniformed.

Ok....The Calgary Police Do have a Hummer H2...Its the recruitment vehicle....The Calgary School DARE programe with the police use a Yellow Beatle....The RCMP have lots of camaro's...but there mostly for show....

He is a Tip.....If a brand new car is behind you and it has no running lights.....its a cop car.....Cops have no running lights so they can drive in the dark without having to worry about being seen.

How do i know this.....I am in school to become a police officer....

Just one question Constable AssPilot. What kind of police school are you going to that has nothing better to teach you than what headlights they use in Police cars?
