dieselpower91 that thing is crazy!

I had the fortunate opportunity to drive a Ford F-650 SuperCrewzer and I have to say man is it awesome! Has air ride, air ride seats. You cannot feel any bumps! It has all the interior amenities anyone could think of! If I had the money to buy one I would, they start off at an eye popping $95,900 base price. Once you get all of the standard options the price soars over $100,000! One thing is DESPISE about this truck is that when you start it the doors LOCK by themselves!!! How do I know? I happened to me, I got locked out...LOL.

I drove an f550 dually with a dump-bed on the back at work, and even that thing is huge.

06-20-2004, 04:56 PM
The problem you run into with something that big in the mud bogs is the weight of it. It's great for trails etc i'm sure, but you get that thing in a semi deep bog and it's going to sink like a brick.

Thats why Jeeps do so well in the mud etc, it's due to the fact they weigh pretty much nothing.

Do you drive a 4x4? Do you have any experience with the subject?

I spent may long weekend pulling out an 86 bronco with 4 inch lift and 35 inch tires, a total of 5-6 times. After he got stuck in areas that I had just wheeled through. The total amounts of time he pulled out my stock YJ? zero.

you still have yet to answer me on wether or not you own or have 4x4 experience, you're opinion really doesnt mean much if you're going off your experience of sitting at the sidelines of a bog watching trucks rip around.

I also own a 97 F250 4X4... and I'd rather take my Jeep out due to simplicity of fixing it as well as the above stated reasons.

I went 4x4 with a couple of friends on the weekend and we found out the bad way to go thorugh a muddy water hole... water doesn't go though the engine so well.

I would rather have a jeep then a big truck that way I could follow the quads if I didn't mind a few scratches.

Oh and by the way we towed the truck to the dealer and the jeep drove us home... except for the alternator in the jeep kicked the bucket on the way back to town.

My buddy just blew his 2002 tj apex edition engine doing the same thing, misjudged the water hole and the water went over his hood.

Oh well, 1000 bucks for a 2002 TJ 4.0L rebuilt engine with exchange.

I was in waiparous a couple of weeks ago, went into some deep mud holes, and crossed some deep streams-rivers. At one moment the water was just over the headlights! Anyways driving back into town I noticed the voltmeter being unusually low, and the engine misfired a couple of times. Got a littled worried but kept going when just when I made it into Calgary the battery died, the alternator doesnt like water that well:D

06-26-2004, 06:21 PM
One of the biggest problems with water crossings is the air filter getting wet from the water and preventing enough air from getting into the engine.

The best way to do a water crossing is to drive fast enough to start a gentle bow wave. If you have a tarp, it's also a good idea to try and cover the grill and front area to delay the onslaught of water into the engine. Snorkels definitely help here.

I find that japanese trucks seal very well compared to the Land Rovers. check out this amazing video of a safari snorkel equiped truck. the vehicle is literally floating on the water.

all i can say is why? imagine if your running in your civic or integra...or hell even like blazer or jimmy and what guy wanted to change lanes and couldn't see you. your dead. Its stupid how the states have laws for cars that have been lowered 2 much. well there should be laws about truck being raised 2 much. becuase its just as much of a road hazard/safty issue

If you drive beside a semi and the guy decides to change lanes without looking, you're dead too. This is called driver error and poor judgement on your part. I have a lifted land rover and a lowered miata. I know the risks of driving next to a semi so I don't do it (doesn't matter what I drive).

There are laws against modifying truck suspension too. But legislation is not a cure for stupidity or not practicing defensive driving techniques.

...I'm confused, does Ford make a f-650? ...In my mind.. an f-650 would be for trailering cars around, to dealerships and stuff.. So did that guy get one and change it into a normal looking lifted Ford?

First thing I got taught in driving school is don't drive beside someone longer then you have to.

Driving down a 2,3 or 4 lane road if I'm beside someone when there isnt alot of traffic around, I'll slow down so if anything happens, say, a cat falls from the sky into the middle lane I'm driving in - I can swirve and be safe, piss people off behind me in other lanes, but avoid fucking myself up. (emotionally you know, because hitting a heaven-sent cat would land you in psychiatry for a good few years)

And I'm pretty sure there is a law against crazy lifts. But it may be more driven towards other illegal such like not-road worthy tires and illegal suspension.

To the guy that thinks Hummers are the best offroading vehicle.

What the US Special Forces Think of Hummers (http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/289957/6)
Heh ... Just a little Tacoma propaganda. Check out the bottom of the first page for some more Hummer bashing.

Also that F-650 is probably pretty mean but for a dune runner I think it would be kinda boring.

ahaahahhahaha yer joking right,
and it's the hemi jeep.

btw a ford f350 with the international powerstroke would tow the jeep like it was a rc car!

The gearing on the diesels have about a 2x mechanical advantage, 2nd/3rd gear is like a gas 1st gear.
