You can also pull the ECU fuse and leave it out for 15 - 20 min. When you start the car after the elapsed time, you are supposed to let the car idle until it reaches operating temp (ie. when rad fan kicks in) without ever touching the gas pedal. Then shut the car off. Re-start the car and you should be ready to go. That is the method for my last Honda (del sol VTEC).

yeah...the rad fan will kick in a lot after the car has heated to operating temp, possible never ;)

Just a thought, my car has two cooling fans and one turns on at operating temperature and one is on all the time. My friends 740 is the same way. Not all cars operate in the same fashion as yours. Way to go

why would someone need to reset the ecu?

because when you add new parts sometimes your check engine light comes on and when you reset it it will turn off, thats just my reason.

Besides possible ECU codes being thrown, resetting the ECU will allow the values of something like a new CAI to be mapped by the computer (or so the story goes). I have no idea if it actually changes anything but I always do it too when I change something that will affect how the car runs.

Just unplug your ECU connectors and then plug them in again.

For newer cars, I believe 96+ they come w/ OBDII sensor which corrects air/fuel management to coordinate how the vehicle is supposted to run.

When you modifiy it, lets say add headers, CAI, exhaust...you change the this. After a while the OBDII sensor "learns" and corrects this returning your car back to stock...thus all the money spent on your bolt-ons is all down the drain.

That's why we have the AFC and VAFC since it resets the ECU everytime you turn the car off.....

Someone may correct me if I'm wrong....

I believe they should be under the floor of the passenger side dash... You might need to unbolt the plate holding down the ECU before you can access the connectors.

like behind the glove box?

Like under the glove box, in front of where the passenger's feet would be. Pull the carpeting out and have a look...

I dunno...but can't Honda ECUs can be resetted by taking out the clock fuse??

its way easier to pop the hood and disc the batt rather than ripping out panels to pull out the ecu connectors.

just leave the batt disced for a few minutes and maybe step on the brake pedal a bit (to use up whatever juice is left over according to some ppl)
