Saw this leaving the Zoo parking lot today at around 5:00. Saw the graphics and had to do a double take. Then I saw the hood scoop and had to do a triple take. Didn't get a shot of the hood though, but got a shot of the back and the side. Going to see if it's parked there tomorrow and get a good shot of the hood.

Also saw this poor 3 Series with Altezza lights. Couldn't get a shot of the Blue SRT-4 that was next to me, but some older lady was driving it.

How do you know if it was turbo?

I don't, it had a hood scoop, probably stick on. If I see it tomorrow, I'll see if I can get a good shot under the scoop.

Cool. Yah I've heard about turbo sonatas but if one was actually in calgary that'd be pretty cool.

I wouldn't jump too fast to the thought that it could be turbo just because of the hood scoop. I've seen way too many fake hood scoops, and they piss me off. The only true tell tale sign of FI is an intercooler, FMIC of course, you wouldn't be able to tell a TMIC unless you looked into the hood scoop.

or you could be fooled if some dumbfuck put a FMIC core in the front of his car, to make it look turbo. dont laugh, ive sadly seen it :banghead: :banghead:

There are also fake intercoolers... for looks. I think VIS use to make some.

yeah there are some air intake relocators that can be mounted where an FMIC goes. They look very similar too.

GAY!!!

i doubt that sonata is actually turbocharged, because if someone is going to choose a hyundai to make a sleeper car there not going to put chrome decals on the side lol..

You don't always need a intercooler if you are turbocharging my car. You can't see side-mount intercoolers, either. my guess is, since he was driving a Hyundai, is that he was broke ass anyway. so if he was to turbo a car, he would either skip the intercooler altogether and only run 4-5lbs of boost or get a sidemount from a DSM.

To end all of the discussion...it is NOT turbo charged...its a regular Sonata, with the decals on the side...

I think that anything with a bump in the hood, must be turbocharged. :D :D :D

There are actually some turbocharged Sonata's out there. There is one for sure in TO. The guy who owns it is part of club DSM Canada. But this was done on an older Sonota which came with a Hyundia variation of the Mitsu 4G63. He actually swapped a JDM cyclone 4G63 from a Galant VR-4. Its pretty sweet....

I hope that's just the angle, but it looks like the car is going to fall over on its side!! Either that or he hit a curb parallel and pushed in both his side wheels.

My god that's a hideous car.

:werd: There is sbsolutely no way this car is turbo'd. Lint is an absolute idiot if he thinks that decals, fake chrome accents and a non-functional hood scoop = turbo.

it says you run 12's at 120mph on your site, any chance you have some time slips kicking around?

Unfortunately I don't have slips man. The guys tuning my car ran it, not me.
When I run the car next month at Cayuga, I'll post the slips up.

Your car looks pretty good dangahboi. The only suggestion I could give is to get wider wheels and tires to match the widebody.

arent u forgetting, hearing it while driving. u can hear the turbo spool up or hear the BOV when they shift ...that is if the owner did get a turbo kit

if he shifts before boost was maintained then there would be very little spool sound and no bov sound.

it's true guys, and even if he is in boost, if it is a really small turbo you may not even hear the turbo whine and if his bov is quiet, you won't really hear it either, especially if you are in traffic with your subs rattling your trunk lid off. I turbo'd my accord and unless i am running full boost, most people don't hear anything different coming from my car unless they are really listening for it.

P.S im the guy with the blue 92 Sonata 4g63T swap that speed star posted.

400 ++ hp street driven daily summer winter. Anything you can imagine is done but nitrous. www.a1jdmengines.com/Sonata http://www.metalexmotorworx.com/sonata/sonata.htm

One of the first ever to swap a 4g63t in a Sonata/Hyundai back in 1999. Since then lots of changes and now AWD is in the works .

Cheers
