I can't see why you wouldn't be able to, I just don't know why you would bother.

I'm just curious...Propane is really cold so it would probably work way better.

Yes you can but throttle body injection propane setups or carburated propane setups suck ass compared to Liquid Propane Injection (kind of like M<ulti port injection but for propane) Bir bbonus is the octane rating of propane is like 120+ so you can run high compression and turbo its great. Search for liquid propane injection on the wbe. 1 problem is they don't make kits for many vehicles yet (mostly fleet cars like crown vics and trucks) The only expensive par tof doing it yourself is finding a good tank.

Propane autogas is about 104.

The 4% power hit for running a gaseous fuel (propane) is no longer a factor once the engine is forced induction.

V8 Bus?

E-type regulator
Impco 450 mixer (at least)

You can actually run good boost without having to install lower compression pistons because of the high octane. Start with 8 and work wour way up to 12 or 15 psi.

You will have to install the turbo and intercooler and piping etc downstream of the mixer and throttle body. (so the mixer sees atmospheric air pressure.) The tricky part is making all the adapters and plenums for the hoses and finding a new mounting location for the mixer.

Ak Miller in Pico Rivera California has been turbocharging propane cars for decades. Ak is now passed away - but his shop is still in business. Ak was a pioneer in Turbo propane - he used Impco propane carbs for both draw thru and blow thru set ups.

The problem with propane is the insepctions that is now mandatory which cost $$$, and even existing systems need to be inspected every 5 years as of now. ...you though out of province was bad :banghead:

There was a twin turbo buick that ran at the track in calgary about 7 or 8 years ago, on propane, nine second et's!

Last known address of Ak Miller's company - turbo propane experts, turbo Ford experts. Ak is now deceased, but I think the company still exists...

Thanks for the info, I was actually thinking about writing them because for what I am doing to my car, I can find no forum/web info anywhere that has detailed setup info for propane high performance tuning (exhaust 02 levels etc). It would be nice to at least have a starting point.

Depends what you are tuning for.....

For cruise, light load, you want about 15.5:1 AF ratio, for full power NA you want about 14.2:1, for forced induction, you want about 12.8-13.0....

All similar to gasoline, just reflects propanes slightly lower energy content....

Cool

I guesstimated a range of 12.5 to 15.7 glad to see I didn't have my head up my ass.

Now I just have to pipe it and do a test start with a small bottle before I remove all the gasoline stuff.

Just give Ak Miller Enterprises a call. They will help you out.

I wasn't aware that Ak was deceased, as was stated in a couple of the above replies. Are you sure he's deceased and when did he pass away? I spoke with him last spring and he was alive at that time and still driving his truck with a blower and his propane fuel system on the street at the age of 81 years old:thumbsup:

I've been pretty busy and this is the 1st chance I've had to come back to see if there were any post about AK, whether he's still alive or what.

You're right... Drag Racing Will Never Die...

I was searching the web looking for info on Ak Miller and got this message board. Ak Miller is my husbands Great Uncle. Martin Miller was my husbands grand father and Ak's brother. Just for the record Ak is still alive and living in Ca. I don't know why they thought he was dead. Unless they got him confused with Zeke Miller his brother (who was also into racing). Zeke and Martin have both passed away.

Well, this started out as an interesting thread. I thought more info on the Turbo Charged Propane technique may be posted. I knew AK was still alive and the OHG Propane Equipment is still being manufactured.

For you 4x4 off road users you might want to check this site out:
http://www.GotPropane.com

For you ProPane Powered Drag Race Fans check this site out:
http://www.AlternateFuelsRacing.com

Those 2 sites seem to be able to make ProPane Perform
