Just wondering what boost levels you guys are running on your cars. Talked to a mechanic up at the shop my buddy owns and he had a Audi 200(or 2000) running 33pds of boost on a stock engine. The number seems incredibly high but he proved it to me so i now believe. Only thing the car has had any issues with was a couple of blown head gaskets over the years. Wondering if any of you guys are running these kinds of numbers or if this is one of a kind?

It depends on the engine I guess, I run 18 in my VW, can easilly run 25 if my turbo wasn't stock. I bet Fluidic runs 20+. I have talked to some people who turn up their boost to 28+ psi on this same engine just to make a good dyno run (but don't run that high on the street).

I know....I thought it sounded like bs too....until he hooked up a pressure guage and ran the car.

You mean the car didn't even have a boost guage and he's running 33 pounds of boost?:banghead: Sounds like this guys a moron, with the waste gate disconected or something..

so far i am just running 6psi, once i get intercooled and get some ignition/fuel mods i will be running 10-12psi (hopefully by mid-summer)

right now my car should dyno at 200hp at the crank, im not too sure about torque, but that hp estimate should be close, i could turn up the boost right now if i wanted to (gotta love manual boost controllers) but i think i will stay on the safe side

Boost pressure means nothing......it's all about airflow! :)

Airflow is what your looking for if your talkin hp but I am wondering just engine detonation and capability wise. And flame really isn't appreciated. This guy is an awesome mechanic and I would trust him over just about any other. The BOV's have of course be changed as the stock ones would blow off much much lower. There is a good chance that the turbo is aftermarket also.

If you want realiabilty, then I don't think increasing the boost pressure is the way to get it ......... Are we not after more power when sizing larger turbos or increasing the boost on stock turbos? Or I am missing something obivious here?
