This should bring on good competition for the S4:thumbsup:

Are they gonna get rid of the C32 AMG then?

Yes, the 3.2L supercharged 6 is being discontinued. No more C32 and no more SLK32. Kinda sad, a lot cheaper to mod those 2 cars... although a C55/SLK55 with a bolt on supercharger would pretty much rape everyone hehe.

Wow that car is amazing, I wonder if they're increasing the price since they're switching to the 8.

Minus the quad exhaust. Well, I guess the grand am GT an other cars have that too, so the back end could be considered quite basic. Especially on the wagon.

By the way, is there a kit for it ? or get the Benz factory super charger to put on ? make it just like the engine as SL55 ??

I wonder what the price value on the c55 compared to the c32 is gonna be.

Kaos: Price should be around the same. The C32 engine was a little troublesome and that is why they are changing it for the 55...MB's mistake shouldn't cost the public...besides, the C43 was not much more expensive than the C36...

CKY: The center console nav is not confusing at all if you've owned a new gen Benzo before, even if you haven't, they are quick to learn..

C4S: HPS, Kleemann, and a few others make a S/C kit for the 55 engine for a price...7000 usd for HPS and over 10000 for Kleemann. I think Brabus, Carlsson and Renntech may also have kits in the works as well...

Turbo Equipped: The AMG cars are pretty understated performance vehicles so their styling is rather tame. They let the performance numbers do all the showing off :D

It better be costing around the same.
It would be pretty shitty if they jacked up the c55 10 g's more, even tho its basically the same lookin car.:nut:

to some extent it is not worth the time to go through the menu for amenities that you proberly will only use once or twice, and also, those buttons are so crammed together it is very easy for people with big hands to mis-push a button or two. The point i'm trying to get at is just that luxury vehicles these days have too much excessive options and amenities in the car therefore backfireing the goal of relaxation and comfort in luxury vehicles

dude your just making you claim based on a picture. if you've ever driven and Benz or seen the console in person you'd see than it actuall isn't confusing at all and the buttons really aren't that small.

Do they have the C-Coupe in AMG form? I'm not a big fan of sedans, I don't know why, must be person preference. I'm still waiting for R171:drool:

There is a C Coupe AMG but it doesn't use the 32 or 55 engine, it is for europe only and has smaller displacement...I don't know too much about it but I believe it is mainly a styling package as opposed to a performance version...

They did have a C 32 AMG Sports Coupe in Europe. It never was a full blown AMG production car though. It was a Special Series car meaning it had very limited production.

A C 32 coupe would be awesome though.

the outside looks way too bland!
for such a special car underneath, it looks exactly like every other late mercedes on the road

That's because AMG lets the performance do the talking, not the flashy crap....

Understated performance.

Apparently, they've got the chassis sorted out on the new SLK, so hopefully the new C will be a bit better.

Throw on an LSD, and you might have a legitimate sportscar.. guess Brabus and Kleeman both offer them, so you could get them up to par pretty fast.

I can't wait to see a boosted version of these cars.. do they have the same internals as the supercharged versions of this engine that are offered in the other series?

ZorroAMG
05-22-2004, 05:33 PM
No the internals are reworked and stronger on the S/C versions AFAIK....

BTW, what is wrong with the W203 AMG's chassis? It is by no means inferior to its competition if that is what you are trying to imply.......

E36M3
05-22-2004, 08:40 PM
I disagree with the chassis not being inferior, but really I was also talking about the R170. Drive an M3 (or any E46) back to back with any C Class on a twisty road and I'm sure you'll agree. If not, guess we just have a major difference in opinion. I think the C and SLK are pretty soft and the steering doesn't have enough feel, even the AMG models. If I owned either one, I'd have to do significant modifications to the chassis to be happy.
