how much money do u gotta put into a 87-93 GT 5.0L mustang to take out a 2004 BMW M3

just wondering cause some fag thinks M3 is like an unbeatable car...not really but u know wat i mean
this is a 2002 M3 (dunno if much changed)

I plan on running mid 13's as soon as i get my heads and cam installed. So if you take my car for example, i bought it for $9000 have put $3000 into it and run 14.6 in calgary. AFR heads+cam+TB+MAF+injectors+Rockers = $3000... I should be mid 13's. Keep in mind i will be running 13's in calgary which would be low 13 maybe 12's at sea level. You could also put a supercharger on a stock 5.0 ($5500) and run in the 13's.... I dont even want to know how much a brand new M3 costs :eek:

So to answer your question.... about $6000:)

There's nothing worse than cocky people. I say build up your car for a fraction of what he paid for his, then embarass him at the track. A 5.0L Mustang has crazy potential - 89Coupe on these boards is dynoing over 400WHP on his.

I remember seeing and hearing that that the earlier stock 5.0 Mustangs run mid to high 15's here in Calgary, Versus 13's for the M

I raced one at Racy city last year and beat him by a 10th. (15.6 vs 15.7)


However, they are very very susseptable to Mods, full exhaust systems and intake modifications yield big gains. Or Supercharge it. :thumbsup:

think about it this way... with the money spent on an m3, he could own 4 or 5 of the mustangs your planning to build.. but not everybody wants a crude muscle machine that's only good for a straight line:drama:

Some people need to get off the M3's nutsack for about 30 seconds and read the thread. Cocky guy thinks M3 is the best car ever, forum member devising a plan to hand the guy his ass in a 5.0. No one is sayin the 5.0 is a "finer" car. No one is saying the BMW is a POS. WE ALL KNOW THE M3 IS A HIGHLY REFINED, POWERFUL, LUXURIOUS MOTOR CAR. Take a damn midol.

To answer the original post, I don't see why heads, cam, full exhaust and an intake won't do the job for you. Hell, a 150 shot would probably do it too. Or both.

If you are talking about beating an M3 in the 1/4, you might do it with just a Novi 1000 which is about $2500. A Novi 1000, TFS heads and intake, and some exhaust work will run you $5000 to $6000. I've seen setups like this make in the neighborhood of 420 rwhp on a Mustang Dyno. Figure $5000 for the car, and your $10000-$12000 project will eat the M3 alive in the 1/4. Make sure you place a high dollar bet with the guy before you race him to help pay for your modifications.

Road racing is another story though.

Wrong! They're pretty much even, but with average drivers in both cars the c32 is going to win. I've heard more stories of c32's beating m3's on benz forums as well as on dtmpower.net than I've heard of m3's beating c32's.

Its too bad your main goal is to beat him in a simple quarter mile strip, (which if you drove an E46 M3, you'd know thats not what its for) Why don't you challenge yourself and try to make your car beat him in a AutoX or something the M3 is BUILT for. Sure, dump maybe only $6000 into your stang, and voila, your done. You can beat him in the quarter. But in all honesty, who cares.

It wouldn't take much to beat an M3 in the 1/4 with a Mustang. Exhaust $500.00, used headers $100.00, set of aluminum heads $1200.00 and a Novi 1000 kit $2450.00 with a 10lb pullie and you have yourself a 350rwhp M3 killer :thumbsup: These are all Canadian prices as well. :)

You could do a low budget 1/4 mile stang for a lot less and still beat him but this approach will guarantee you will smoke his ass anywhere on any kind of tires :D In a straight line.

Mmmm I guess it boils down to personal preference. I see a benze or bmw and I don't look twice.

Of course if its an AMG or an M3 with a $4000.00 set of wheels on it then I look, but a plain old M3 or AMG, big deal! Yeh they are nice but they won't turn my head.

I look for originality, something that sets it off from every other car on the road.

But I don't think the word "Market" defines turning heads.

I seem to turn a lot of heads when I drive by, especially when they hear this big "Phsssssssssssssshh". :p

no one said mustangs suck, or that they couldn't be made to out accellerate a mustang, they said that the m3 is an all around better car. the cars are designed for 2 completely 2 different things.
