they gotta wait for it to stop snowing first, there is just no pleasing people, first they cant get the sand out fast enough, then they cant clean it fast enough....

Thats BS -- they go overkill on gravel/sand all winter and it sits til august.

I got hit so hard in the windshield i thought it was coming through!

You were travelling behind a city gravel truck right (wink, wink)

Maybe you should call them and see if they will replace your windshield!

Cleaning streets doesn't necessarily help. Here the streets get "cleaned" and if people don't move their cars from the side of the road, all the sand and shit under their cars doesn't get swept away. So what's the diff? It's better but never perfect.

This happened to me last year, I was behind a truck, it goes over a bump and a bunch of gravel falls out the back. I ended up with two chips and a few little paint chips. The truck had a call this number with this id # sticker on it. So I wrote down the numbers and called. I gave them all the infomation, they told me that they would do a search and get back to me. Sure enough a couple of hours later I get a call from the city. They tell me that the driver wasn't required by law to cover this specific load. I say but he was carrying an over filled load of gravel. They tell me I must have been following too close and it's not their fault, Thanks for calling...

I don't drive my car in winter. This is the result of all the gravel on the roads. Mainly my front street. (Big pic warning.)

And here's a shot of the gravel.

They're still not done cleaning the roads. It's a 2 month period of cleaning the roads, and it's not done until mid june.

EDIT: grammatical error
