Okay im going to sell my Alpine MRP-M350 for 150 US $. This kid wants to buy, and i have been thinkning about getting somehting with more power. I found the Sony for 200 bucks (same price i paid for the alpine). Does anyone own or heard this amp? I know its more powerful, but i havent had probs with my alpine i dont wana get a sony and have problems. My main concern, does anyone know if this thing would overheat? My alpine never had a problem, even @ 1ohm it worked then shut off with no damage. My buddy has a kinda shitty one, says its 1000W i know its like 165 RMS but its gets hot but never has shut down, will mine be ifne? If not then any other good mono class D amps thats are reasonable? Any input is apreciated...Thanks

I personally think sony amps are junk, if ya want something good and reliable your gonna have spend some money, save up and go with a Fosgate or the new JL Amps.

Here is an example of how good sony amps are! (http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=95985)

Do you think someone would do that to a good amp.

NO

Stay away from ANYTHING that sony makes for you car.

Except there older ES and Mobil ES.

Mmmmm sony C-90 :hitit:

If my amp does 350 RMS @ 2OHM but i have 2 Audiobahn AW1200Q's they do 700RMS and i think 1000max then what is a good amp to pair them with i dont really wana go past the 300 dollar mark, cause ill have 150 from my amp and another 150. Any one with sugestions? Im trying to find an alternative for the sony amp.

I would suggest a JBL BP600.1

Will put out 600w RMS at 2ohm. Will go one ohm stable.

These have been tested to put out ~700w RMS.

Rock solid class D amp. Good power at a cheap price.

You can pick up the 600.1 for around under $300 on ebay.

I would save another $150 and get the 1200.1. Awsome powerfull amp.

if its 600Wrms @ 2 ohm, than how much rms you think each sub would get, and are there 2 sub terminals on it or 1?

Okay 1 more thing, i read reviews and im pleased. I thought my amp was pushing both subs aroumd 300Wrms @ 2 ohm, and read in a post here i think it was about this amp the ohm loads give you all the same wattage? even if thats not the case, i just want to know if ill be getting more power with the JBL BP600.1 than i was with my Alpine . I like the reviews on these amps and im just not sure if the 600 wont be enough or if the BP 1200.1 is more what i need, i dont wana blow my shit out but i mean i found the 1200 its only like 80 bucks more so im not sure yet thanks for all the help so far...

I am not sure about the wiring scheme of the bahns but either way they will get 300w RMS each. The amp is 600w at 1 OR 2 ohms. If they are 4ohm DVC you will wire each coil in parallel the parallel to the amp presenting a 1ohm load.

If they are SVC then just wire the subs in parallel to present a 2ohm total load to the amp.

But i would go for the 1200.1 to give them roughly 700w RMS each.

Your bahns should be able to take the 1200.1 I would get that FOR SURE!!

You can always keep the gain down if you are thinking it is pushing them too hard. Then IF you end up getting differect subs in the future, the 1200.1 should be more than ample power for anything.

Side note: The audiobahns aren't very efficient woofers (as you can tell by the high power rating) i am willing to bet my left nut that they will be fine with the 1200.1

You are talking US dollars here, so spring for the 1200.1. Your subs should handle the power, and you won't regret it. Buying a good amp and turning the gain down provides for much better sound than buying a weak amp and turning the gain up.

Sony amps fail mainly because idiots buy them and wire them to impedances below their minimum spec. They're a cheaper priced amp, and a well known brand name. And that combination = a whole ton of morons buy them and install them by themselves and yeah, that's one reason Sony sucks so much.

Sony seems to have a market for those "special" people.
