Domestic resale value

You buy one of these cars and every year they drop down in value like crazy. Is it because of the poor engineering? Lack in popularity?

Yea lots of problems in the 90s
but like you take a sunfire and thats 3 years old and its 9g compared to 16000 from the dealer new.

its the market that sets the value. its what people are willing to pay for a car based on information and what they think. the wholesale end of things has a lot to do with it also.

That's cause every 2nd car on the road is a sunfire!

A lot of it is supply and demand, that's it. You can't get near the black book value when buying a golf, but my gf's 98 200sx SE-R we got for 500 bucks above black book (what a dealer would pay for it) cause no one knows about those cars and they're just not in high demand.

That SE-R is one hell of a sleeper. Soooooo much fun to drive. I absolutly love the SR20DE as well. I wish I had enough money to take up an NX2000 or classic SE-R as a project :(

BTW, there's a chance she might sell it. I'll do everything in my power to get her not to, but if she does I'll let you know :)

A way it is definitly true though is in electronics. So many little FUCKING annoying electric problems with domestics :banghead:

not all imports have high resale values tho. look at 240sxs...

those cars are about as bad as any cavalier for resale..

Supply and demand, my friend. It's all about that...

Many more Americans on the road than imports, and the mindset of people who have it firmly implanted in their minds that Domestics are of less quality than imports (which is true IMO) results in poor resale value.

Don't forget, buying a domestic vehicle of the same class as an import, usually the domestic is thousands cheaper.

Its not only the low end Cavs/Sunfires that dont hold thier Value, its ALL american Cars, A '99 Cadillac STS goes for about $35,000 with 80,000km, they are $75,000 new!!........A '99 Audi A6 goes for the Same Price or more and they are only $50,000 new!.......A '99 Grand Prix GTP goes for about $21,000, they are like $35,000 new, I would NEVER buy a Brand new American Car.:thumbsdow

i dont think id ever buy a new car off the lot...... maybe 1 year old.. used private sale, but never brand new, the value drops so much after the car drives off the lot...:thumbsdow
