I keep seeing this running about. It is clearly old, 89ish. I'm totally guessing.

Black with smaller mesh silver wheels. Definitely right hand drive.

Anyone seen this? i'll try to scoop some pics and get a better look.

Just wondering if the car is known or not.:dunno:

screw the skyline its not like its a damn r34! Anyone can import one and eventually all import lovers will have an r32. They don't cost much you know.

Just a question. It's a curiousity. Beats a run of the mill POS. Neat car. I don't much care if it's an r32, r34, or powered by a turbine. It's unique and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it.

the guy just pionted out he saw it in calgary. i dont see why you have to go off on how everyone will have when in fact not alot of ppl will have them. why, because the maintence cost will be high. a rhd skyline is not a common site in calgary.

Either elaborate or quit rolling your eyes. Isn't this the STREET ENCOUNTERS section?

Since you say its "cleary old" looking maybe its one of the R31's that JNS Imports brought in like this:

One of the owners at JNS has an 87' R31, which is black. It is definately a tight ride. Very rare.

Also, early Skylines do not have FMIC's. Nissan tucks a small inter-cooler in the fender usually.

Skylines are big bucks to mod/maintain for sure, more so on the rb26. Dont let anyone tell you different.

Rare in North America yes, but not really in Japan. If its the JNS car that was seen it would have the FJ20ET and probably just the factory SMIC.

By saying rare, i think its was obvious i meant in Calgary. In Japan, if you were crusing on the freeway, you would see a couple of Skylines pass.

I thought the JNS Skyline's were HR31 (H = RB20, D = FJ20). I don't think Nissan ever made a DR31.

yep. Wonder how many kids are going to fork out 10-15k for a GTR then have to sell it once they figure out they can't service their car at the local Nissan dealership like they used to with their old Sentra.

the prices of gts-t's and gts-t type m's has shot through the roof.... its insane!

gts-t that sold 6 months ago for 5k, would now be fetching 8-9k. dont even think of looking at somthing with work done to it :(

at this rate, it is a much better deal to get a gtr :/

I think you may be right, the R30s came with the FJ20 not the R31.

mx73someday probably knows more about this than me, but from what I hear Australia is changing their import laws from 15 years to 30 years at the end of 2004. That means Skylines will be legal to import there for only a matter of months. I would imagine that would drive up the price, but how signifigantly I wouldnt know.

I don't think not being able to get them in Australia is the problem. It is being able to get them here :) There are lots of richies in vancouver and toronto that are buying them, certainly, and considering they are an already rare car the price will go up quicker then they would on a SW20 or 180SX.

The highway patrol in Australia use one or two R34's.

But how many people in Canada have actually bought Skylines. Just a handful really. Not near enough to drive up prices.

In edmonton theres a black skyline r32 parked at an autobody shop right across Mcdonalds on 99th street and 52 avenue. I get to see it 1-2 times a week :D because its not always there.. Maybe it's the same one u saw.. i'll try to post some pics later on.

there already is only ever one or two 1989 GT-Rs in the Japanese for sale pages... so if you have five times as many potential buyers for those one or two cars, the prices are going to be five times as much. The other Skylines won't go up in price because there is many more of thme out there.

There are a lot more than 1 or 2 Skylines for sale in Japan.

The prices of 89s (and soon early 90s) is going up quite dramatically. The Australians have a similar 15-year rule, and they are domestically right-hand-drive, so a great number of 15-year old cars are going to Australia. They've been doubling their imports every year, and are above the 10,000 mark.

So yeah, the prices are getting ridiculous for all models of R32 Skyline. And I would have to say that although the Canadian demand is a pretty small influence on prices in Japan, it still has an effect.

There were less than 5000 GT-Rs made in 1989, think of how many weren't already scrapped or exported and how many were raced and put into collections. There were more GTS-t's, but they were also more quickly salvaged and turned into RB20 clips because they had less prestige than GT-Rs.

There are rumors that Australia will be closing the door on their 15 year rule, which is what I'd like to see, because it means that Canadians will be paying less for 15 year old cars from Japan.

Why do you want to see that happen? I know it should get you guys more sales due to cheaper cars, but aren't your fees dependant upon the price of the car. So the more someone pays for a car that you guys import, the more 'commision' you take as your fee?

But they would probably sell a higher volume of cars, and make more money of the cars they bring in as stock.

You can be a volume dealer or a gross dealer.

If I sell more cars for less then I can still make good money while helping out our customers even more. It's a nice trade off I think.... I still get paid, while our customers save what could be a lot of money!
