I'm looking for a basic laptop for word processing, viewing music videos, surfing the net and chatting(webcam) on MSN with. Is this one good enough?

Immaculate condition

specs:
Intel Pentium III @ 650mhz w/ Intel Speedstep technology
14.1" colour LCD display
Docking station (built in network card, 2 usb ports, etc)
Battery lasts for ~1hour, but a new one on ebay is only around 50$
128mb ram (removeable and upgradeable to 512mb ram with 2-256 modules)
20gig hard drive
S3 Savage/MX 8mb SGRAM video card
Video output to external monitor AND TV
DVD-Rom/CD-rom drive
External floppy drive which can also replace the dvd-rom drive
10/100 PCMCIA card (1 slot still free)
Internal V. 90 data/fax modem

They want $450 for it.

Wat u guys think?

Sounds like the Toshiba Tecra 8100 being sold on calgary.forsale ;) I have the same laptop. It's a pretty good laptop, if you ask me.

I happen to have the driver's page downloaded if you need it:

yeah, that sounds like a pretty good deal if you upgrade the ram you would have a decent machine for what you want it for

The nice thing about this laptop is you can actually upgrade the processor pretty easily if you can find the correct processor for it. It's not soldered in, so if you can figure out how to take your laptop apart (which in this case isn't very difficult), you can upgrade it as high as 850mhz.

One thing about this laptop is it's sort of picky with the ram it takes, so if you're going to upgrade the ram, see if you can test it out before you purchase it.
