Hey guys.

I am thinking about picking up one of these. Have you heard anything good/bad about them? I know they are fairly new. Anyone know any good forums? I found http://www.mazda3forums.com/ are there any others?

Thanks,

Benyl

My friend has the the 3 Sedan and he likes it a lot. I would assume the wagon would be just as good :dunno: - what is different about the GT model?

My Buddy who has the Mazda 3 Sedan (check the car part on my website) has heated Leather seats, it's a dealership option, they outsource it to a place. They did a great job! Bought it from Kramer.

Heard nothing but positive feedback on this car, definatly check it out. Mechanically sound, and good warrenty offers. To me its a pretty good deal. Good value for your money.

Maybe check out a Nissan sentra too if your into Nissan at all.

Mazda 3 is the new king of compact.

Been sales leader in it's class since it's released. Won a few AJAC awards.

It's a fun car, more than enough power with the 160HP model and still pretty good at 140HP basic form. Price is right and looks hot. Interior is probably best in class as well.

It's true that most parts are sourced from Ford but if it's good enough to be a Volvo, it's good enough for me.

I believe only Impreza TS beat in price/features.

There is http://www.msprotege.com/forum as well as http://www.protegeclub.com .

Looks like a good car and as with any car, people have reported a couple of issues. Don't know if it's widespread or just narrowed to a few select few since it is the 1st production year.

Yeah, the next Protege 5( EVERYWHERE ). Cute cars, only thing I don't like about them is the styling is much like the RX-8, so it makes you look up everytime they drive buy.

Makes the RX-8 look a little cheaper

They are already everywhere.

Great bang for buck, IMO. But as with the Protege5, the Mazda 3's rear does not appeal to me. They spent all the time working on the front and sides, but got a little lazy for the rear. :dunno:

yeah, I am in no big hurry to get one. Checked it out today, but didn't have time to test drive it. My Accord has spoiled me. I want/need heated seats, climate control, etc...

It is a great little car... I guess I don't know what I want... Maybe I will wait for the Volvo V50 T5 AWD...

haha, like I said, I don't know what I want.

I could go with the Mazda3, Jetta wagon 1.8T or TDI, V50, Mazda6 sport wagon, even a Dodge Magnum RT that is coming.

I know there is a huge price difference. I guess I am looking for info on everything. Everything I have seen about the Mazda3 is positive.

I bought a MZD 3 GT Sedan in February, and I must admit I'm very impressed so far. I'm a VW guy and have been for a long time and when it came time to buy a new car I couldn't justify the plus 30k for a 1.8t Jetta. I also tried out the Civic, the Corolla, Sentra...none of them came close to the what the 3 was offering in this price range.
Power is awesome, it handles amazingly, looks hot and attention to detail (especially in the interior) ranks up there with higher end cars. My only complaints so far would be no dual exhaust and no trunk release on the key fob.
PS. I still have my Passat and won't by selling it anytime soon. :bigpimp:

Mazda3 GT is a killer little car for the cash, but I could not live without heated seats and AWD in the winter :(

The Jetta TDI wagon would be my pick.

Cheap running costs (d13s3L pWn5) and very good aftermarket.

the only problem is finding out the long term problems and issues there is with the car since it still is a 1st gen, but there hasn't even been one bad comment about the car at all?? (aside from personal taste?)

Almost all bad comments will be of personal taste. Some things that people don't like others will.
But ya there has been problems with this 1st Gen MZD3. Since February I've have the front impact airbag sensor replaced and the fuel pump replaced both under warranty and both jobs completed under 2 hrs...great service dept at Sunridge!!!
I know other owners have done the same.
As far as bad things about the car that CANNOT be fixed...ya I can't think of any.
