View Full Version : Stock B16a2 whp??

Just picked up my new car and im curious what they normally put down stock and with bolt ons.

Need to decide if im going FI next year or NA.

i think B16s usually put down around 130hp to the wheels, and something like 95-100lb-ft of torque. correct me if im wrong!

about 140 on a dynojet. SCC's civic made 130 but it was an older kinda beat up engine and they hooked it up to the pee shooter exhaust. when they put the apex'i world sport exhaust (about equal to SIR exhaust) it made 140. most 99-00 SIRs make about 140-142

Do you know if that changed the torque numbers at all?

I was just assuming with that exaust, do you think the torque woulda been affected.... in a bad way? Not much, but still.

with which exhaust. i think the torque went up with the apex'i exhaust, but not by much. i cant remember, not 100%

If anything it probably increased it. You think its going to add 10hp and decrease the torque?

Honestly? Yeah, that was my assumption. A lot of mods when your increase your hp, it decreases torque.

I don't know a lot of details, this is what I've been told from a very reliable source. So if you would like to go into more detail into why it would/woudn't. I'd like to learn something here. Anyone?

i remember the apexi WS exhaust on that particular car raised the hp by about 5 or 6 over stock eg exhaust

Im just looking to do basic mods now.
Im debating doing a CAI, but when I did it on my last civic it seemed to lose more low end grunt.
Im thinking if I leave the stock airbox and resonator and ad a K&N drop in and leave the top off it might help??

Any opinions, with REAL answers and proof.

I wouldn't waste any money on NA mods. They'll all be tossed when you go turbo. The last b16 turbo I tuned put out 250whp on a dynojet at something like 8psi. Can't go wrong doing that!

im debating the same thing...i really wanna get a b16a2 into my eg hb, but it seems like its gonna cost quite a bit (like 5g) argh!

but yea after some research, i find they put out about 130-135 at the wheels

i thought it was like said ealier low 140s. like 140,141, 142 for the odd ones from the factory..

older engines from crx's and stuff will give about 130-135 depending how beat up they are. if you want to turbo you could get a B18b. makes a bit less power but that wont matter as much with a turbo. and you get way more torque too.

If you're gonna spend 5gs on a motor might as well go for the B18s.

You can get a JDM gsr motor with lsd for about 4200 including tranny and ecu
