Windows Media PLayer Problem

Hi,

My windows media player just stopped opening. When i clicked on the icon, it wouldnt open up. So i restarted my computer, and now the windows media icon is an american flag and windows media player wont work! what do i do?!?!?

Sounds like you have a virus, sounds like the same thing as mine, my media player dont work anymore too, but I didnt get the american flag thingie...

I had the exact same thing happen. I'm not sure if it's a coincidence or not, but I got some stupid ads/promos somehow embedded in my internet explorer, so whenever you use IE the stupid pop-ups happen at random times. AdAware couldn't find it, so had to go back to the good old Netscape.

As for the Media Player, what fixed it was go into Programs/Media Player and click on the setup_wm.exe, it worked for me.

i had the same problem but didnt hav the american flag this is how i fixed it i searched on the net for windows media pllayer 9 series and i downloaded it and it worked great but if u want the old media player back unistal windows media 9 series hope this helps you

hmm i had a similar problem, none of the "play" "Stop" "next track" "Previous track" worked, it was grayed out. i just reinstalled and it looks good now

well what you need to do is get a program called ad-aware....it takes out all those annoying programs that mess with all your stuff......hope this helps......
