is there such a thing that you can simply plug in your cf card and it will auto copy it onto a micro drive or a hdd or something without a computer?

Possibly, but I've never heard of one. I just click and drag all of my photos at once onto my hard drive, works just as well imo

i was thinking instead of having several compact flahs cards, simply have two cf cards and one of these 4gb (or so) microdrives in this transfer device... therefore instead of needing 10CF cards, you just use have two and one can be dumping while you're using the other and then youcan switch back and forth

(of course if i was near my computer i would just dump them there.)

you could do that with the RCA Lyra A/V

It had a 20GB hard drive... and you can review pictures on the screen.

or IIRC, there's some kind of device that allows you to dump to an iPod

Yes, you can, Vistek had them last time I was there, about the size of a Pocket PC, allows you to preview the images as well.
