Is it possible to build a daily driven, 4 wheel disc brake, 17" wheels, 11 second, 120mph, 500rwhp and 550rwtq for under $10,000?????????????
Yes
My buddies Stang ran 11.57@120 on slicks in his home built TT302 Stang. The engine has a freshened stock bottom end, stock cam, Edelbrock heads and intake, 2 T3 turbos from pick your part. It also has 4 wheel disc brakes, 17" wheels and is driven almost daily. After getting booted from the track yesterday for no roll cage, it made 1 dyno pull at 502 rwhp and 557rwtq. This car was built for just under $10,000.
No offense but try and do that with a Honda.:poosie:
FUCKING IMPRESSIVE............... beware this car is a sleeper :D
P.S. Hey Calagui this car pulls pretty hard on deerfoot hey?

I agree, that is very impressive. But not everyone is looking to go as fast as they can in a straight line.

No it wasn't me. I don't live in Alberta.
The point of my post was not to say the stang cannot do the quarter faster than most cars. The point is, a $10,000 twin turbo mustang is a street driven car that is worth $10,000. Great car for someone on a tight budget...

10-21-2002, 06:24 PM
that is pretty impressive to be able to go that fast on a $10 000 budget . . . but likewise, as many have already stated . . . it's just an opinion on what people want to do with there cars . . . i bet with another $10k you wouldn't attract the attention as a civic with $10k so it really depends on what you want to do with your car . . . go fast or look good, of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder so if you think that mustang is nice . . . then  some people out there will spend $10k just on a set of wheels!!!

The car isn't just set up to go in a straight line. Hence the bigger discs in the front and discs in the back. He didn't have much time this year, but he was actually planning on autocrossing it aswell. The car was definetely not set up strictly for drag racing. It was setup as an all around car on a budget.
As for the black Supra......... Mau woould definetly whoop this car, but then again friends aren't supposed to race friends.;)
We were filming the car from beside the staging lanes and on the first to second shift the front left tire was coming off the ground about an inch.:hitit:

Does that cheap car with no engine come with a transmission? Rear diff, centre diff, intercooler, fuel system, exhaust system? Does then maguns engine come with a turbo? Maybe it does, I don't know......

To clarify the Stang $10,000 canadian TOTAL cost, including car.
If I can get a complete 500hp Talon engine for $5000 order me 7 as that is an unbelievable good deal. Is it a red tag sale by any chance?

1. your car goes for about 2-6 grand...
2. all hte parts for an h22 swap will be about 3 grand
3. the install of an h22 into an ef hatch will cost anywhere from 3-6 grand depending on whether u can find some1 who knows how to do it.
4. a jrsc is another couple geez...
5. even with all this, u will be lucky to get into the 12 second range, let alone 11.
in short, trying to fit an h22 into an ef hatch will cost tons more than 10000...and on stock suspension, u will smash the engine block into cement over every bump....and u know what it costs to upgrade suspension...hmmm.
think about it boy! 10000 to get a honda into 11s is really hard...

I forgot where I heard this from, but there are at least two ways to get a Civic into the 10's.
SR-20 motor.
Spoon engine, T66 turbocharger and NOS
I think that stang is very sespectable and well done. I am so not a fan of mustangs and moreover that body style, but I can respect a well tunes and very fast car when I see one. Props!

The H22 in a EF has been done, theres a turbo h22 ef in ontario it has a fiberglass front end, needing to cut everything out, the rad support must be removed and such, 3 grand will not cover all the parts for the swap unless they are stolen, and no a spoon engine will not get your car into the 10 second range, the spoon motor has 210hp, it is a high rev motor and is very good for road course, not really for drag, but definitly not 10s, maybe high to mid 14s from personal experience driving a EK with spoon motor.
Not trying to start anything just trying to clear things up.

I can build you a talon that runs 11.57 on street tires  for $10,000 including the car if you really want :poosie: 90_shelby
The mustang would eat you alive on deerfoot, but you could drive the talon in winter :dunno:

I never once said it was slow, I even commented him on his drag setup.
90_Shelby
10-22-2002, 03:18 PM
IT'S NOT A DRAG SETUP. He was planning on autocrossing it as well, hence the big breaks, 17" wheels, and G force TA's. I even specifically stated this previously in the thread. Calling this car a drag car is ignorant, as you obviously don't understand what a car setup for drag racing is like. This car does not have 90/10's, 4 cylinder springs, or sway bars removed. IT IS NOT A DRAG CAR.
haha good old flaming, I was just quoting my own opinion...it was quite uneducated but im just going on what ive seen...hell i saw a 90 Si in the bargain finder yestruday for 800 with a crappy motor, so lets say it costs another 6 grand to get a complete h22 into your little civic thats another 3 grand to build a custom turbo, im pretty sure youll be in those high numbers with that setup...
or get a gsr swap and a jr sc or homemade turbo...
all im saying is it can be done, but my efforts are useless :) this is all IMO!
theres a few civics/crx's in the bargain finder for cheap like no more than 1200, most of em just need body/engine work...
I was looking at an 89 crx today but the guy sold it when I called him back with an offer (he wanted 700 i offered 500)..body was good just had no head on the engine

90_ shelby: IF iI were you I would stop trying at this point. lots of the people on this forum are closed minded retards that cant reconize a nice car when they see it. just because it has a mustang emblem it cant handle.... there are alot of mustangs that are used purposely for road racing and they are great at it. if this mustang has 17 wheels and good tires I bet it can outhandle a whole bunch of these front wheel drive ricers. and about it vs. the supra..... that combination is ignorant . peple should be prasing the hell out of this mustang for running close (damn close) to a car that is that expensive when it is STOCK!! now how much money has he spent on it????Face it boys any car can go fast, just with some cars you dont have to change the whole car to do it. To every one that said that it might be fast but it is still ugly, you need to get your priorities right. let me guess no neon . no big spoiler, no "body kit" no nice huh? he didnt yeven claim it looked nice, but i think it does. put a couple more grand into paint and some other appearence aspects and why won't it look nice? oh yea I forgot its still a mustang and none of those look good.

There's one critical detail about the Mustang that's been left out... the thing runs on PUMP GAS. Meaning it's got kick ass power whenever, wherever. This is what makes the car so impressive.
Every other car mentioned in this thread will require special high octane fuel to run 11's. Talon, maybe not, but it's all won at the launch, and you're not on a drag strip daily, so it'd get killed on the road.
There's no replacement for displacement :D.

Oh yes and lets get a couple SR20s before race wars and drop them into our civic and integrasHey man.. dont diss on the sr20. Ive seen that motor in so many different makes of cars it isnt even funny (mercedez, nissan, mazda, honda (hehe!) to list a few...).
