What's out there for a performance chip for a 03 Audi 1.8T, FWD ?

Any sites or stores, preferably Canadian that I can get one at?

Any warranty issues? How easy is it to install?:)

upsolute, can't comment on the warranty issue but I image it would void a lot of parts.

just dont tell them about the chip. its invisible to VWoA diagnostic tools anyways. Go upsolute

Upsolute is good because its local, but APR/Revo are probably the better performaning chips out there.

Check out www.awe-tuning.com for the GIAC stuff. We've had great success with the products and they are highly regarded!

APR makes decent products for the Audi 1.8T.

Concept 1 now carries APR stuff.
Personally, I would stick with GIAC or APR, both being leaders in Audi chip technology.

The difference from a 1.8t chipped compared to not chipped is like regular car to fun to drive car!

I would not own a non chipped 1.8t after driving a chipped a4.

Anyone know what excactly this chip does?
Does it just increase boost or what?

changes the fuel mapping, changes the boost mapping, removes top speed limiter and raises the rev limiter. some chips can alter the timing too.

My friend put a chip into his A4 1.8T and it was supposed to add about 50hp to the base 150hp. That seems like way too much of a jump to me, but I'm not familiar with VW's so it may well be true. I don't think he's ever dynoed it either to verify the claim. But I've been in the car before and after and the difference is night and day. It definitely did add power, the thing is a beast now and I thought it was powerful enough stock! Definitely a good investment IMO.

My parents are getting an '04 A4 1.8T Cab w/ cvt. It won't take much convincing for my dad to want to chip it, however, the warrenty issue might scare him.

How is it that the upsolute chip is not able to be recognized by VWoA diagnostics?
