Mercedes introduced their CLS - a four-door coupe - at the Geneva Motor Show last March - but what they didn't show was this hot AMG version, expected for the 2006 model year.
Sources are telling us the 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-12 engine will put out over 600 horsepower, with prices expected to start in the mid-$80,000 range.

In the Mid 80000 range? seems a bit low for a Benz with a bi turbo V12.... and its ugly

Unless I'm reading the quote wrong, that mid 80,000 price range has got to be wrong for the V12 AMG motor, even if it's US$. Pretty sure they mean BASE PRICE starts at $80k usd.

The CLS is based on the W211 E class platform, not the CL or S, so it is possible that the base car could be $80,000 USD but at probably 30 or 40K US for the engine alone, it'll most likely be in the $120,000 USD range.

I dont like it. IMO MB has been doing some pretty ass ugly styling lately. Im still a bigger fan of the square styling with clean lines.
Is it just me or do some of the lines look kinda Ford Taurus'ish
:dunno:

Yep! Just like the BMW 5 series looks like a Pontiac Grand Prix haha.
Domestic manufactures should feel proud!

Honesty, look for Taurus and some domestic cars, are not bad ..but .. people don't like them ! It is nothing wrong for a Benz look like Chrysler, or Ford, Honda, and BMW look like a GM .. but of course, when buying a $80K or $100K car, don't want to be alike a $20K car ..
Even my mom been driving Benz and BMW for yrs ... still hard to tell the different of a CLK vs Honda Accord coupe, a new E class vs New camry (rear)
Thank God, there is no GM cars over there ...

I like it, it looks quite sporty, but I wonder how much side visibility is reduced with those absolutely PUNY side windows on both front and rear. I'm not a big fan of the higher doors and smaller windows...sometimes I like to rest my arm on the door sill while driving, good luck with a car like this.

Yah but the point for you is that it doesn't replace the CL.
