VANCOUVER - A driver thought to have been involved in a street race Wednesday night is in hospital with serious injuries after a terrible crash.

Witnesses say two cars, including a Lamborghini, were speeding up Boundary Road near Marine Drive when a white car lost control and slammed into the underside of a semi-trailer.

The car was badly damaged, and wreckage was strewn across the pavement for metres.

The lone driver was rushed to hospital, with what police say are serious but not life-threatening injuries.

"Two cars came speed-racing like 200 kilometres at least," said witness Arina Onnink. "The Lamborghini hit him, and he went over [a] boundary,... and a trailer was coming down and he went underneath the trailer."

Onnink says the driver of the crashed car "didn't look very good. He'd lost a lot of blood and he was unconscious when they took him away."

The driver of the other car fled the scene.

The area has been the scene of other suspected street-racing crashes. Almost a year ago, a likely road race on Marine Drive sent four people to hospital, including an elderly couple.

Poor Lamborghini!! :thumbsdow

That sucks!
I mean they shouldn't have been racing, but why the hell would the guy in the lambo flee?
People are stupid

is that guy stupid? it's not gonna be hard to find that lambo... someone is gonna notice something....

a. someone ordering in one expensive ass fender for a lambo
b. someone driving a lambo with damage
c. how many people in van can HONESTLY own a lambo?
d. how many people in van can HONESTLY own a lambo with damage?
e. you think that if u own a lambo, racing people is pointless...
f. maybe a body shop noticing that hmmm they're fixing a lambo

If you are wealthy enough to drive a lambo things can be fixed without people noticing!

But its not like he can walk down to the local Auto Value and pick up a lambo fender....those parts will attract a lot of attention when you order them new. Not a lot of places have access to such parts for high end vehicles...

im sure he's not the only person in the country that needs a lambo fender.... and if he is, whats to stop him from ordering it to an "assicates house" and picking it up there and having his own personal body man do it in his garage?

But there's still a paper trail though...Newayzz, all that I'm saying is that its going to be very difficult for this driver to hide from the cops. Had it been a more common vehicle, like a civic/neon, it would be easier...relatively speaking....

if you can afford a car like a lambo, you can pay cash for anything it needs as well.

easily done:

1.Crash second lambo into something.
2.Buy your rich ass two bumpers, "in case it happens again"
3.Pay broke bodyman some cash to throw it on.
4.Proceed to race people in your newly fixed lambo!

All i am trying to say is things can be done without people knowing about it, money talks.

few things, they dont think the second car is a lambo anymore, the car that did hit the truck got ripped all to hell, parts were still in the rear tires and the skid marks went for like 400 feet. pretty gruesome, but thats what you get streetracing.

Why would you race a lambo to begin with!:dunno:

If I had a lambo I wouldn't be racing on the streets with POS cars.

supposedly it was a silver lambo gallardo racing a white talon

about 5 years ago, 2 people were street racing in van city, 1 in a yellow porsche (not sure model) and other was a mustang. The person in the porsche, hit a pedestrian at over 160km/h on city streets...the person was of course instantly killed, and the porsche fled the scene. 1 witness said they saw yellow porsche (not sure model but witness did know it), with bc plates...they did a search, and found only 3 of those vehicles within the vancouver area, went to those 3 houses, and voila, half destroyed porsche in the garage....
this was what i read from a vancouver news paper years ago...but if its a rare car, its not too difficult to locate...of course it coulda been stoeln, who knows..

out of curiosity what was the other car? If they were to reach 200km/h it would be a joke to the Lambo, but what about the other car? this is I assume that the lambo didn't give the other car a 2 block head start.... Logically it wouldn't be a civic, or neon, or something that crappy, because most of them can't even reach like 4th gear speed in cars like lambos...

The Lambo was never fully involved in the crash. The driver fled the scene with little or no damage to the vehicle. The other car and driver suffered severely. There are <<several>> silver Lambos in Metro Van. Even still, the driver will be found and prosecuated. Very Sad!:(

Winning is actually being able to walk a mile all said and done street racing or not.

the police just said that they don't think there was any other car and the guy in the talon was just speeding. the witness didn't seem to be much help

It's a sad story but I guess it isn't like the movies when the car goes under a semi and the driver just "ducks" and the car keeps going out the other side sans roof but the race goes on.

"This is what happened, Andrew is alive, and lucky. There was no proof he was racing, and no charges have been laid. Witnesses were unreliable..so as far as were concerned, there wasnt any racing involved."

it's a shame he wont get charged

No shit. What a fucktard... he's damn lucky he didn't slam his car into some kid. I hope someone's there to give him a swift kick in the junk when he gets out of the hospital.
